We raced to the metallic dock of the base. Passing through rows of giant containers filled with whatever crap this base needed, the large operations building towered over our heads. That must be where the base commander is.
"Admiral," I said.
"Vice-Admiral?" Alex replied without turning back. Why were we in such haste?
"I don't think that captain believed your identification."
Alex shoved his hand in his pockets and threw me the identification he had given the captain. What the heck! This is obviously fake!
"Why do you think just anyone can get their hands on an Admiral's identification, Vice-Admiral?"
"What...? So you wanted to give him the fake one?" I said. Our steps were still wide as we continued towards the base.
"Yes, he complied to sound us out and get a chance to inspect the ship. We have to reach the base commander before the captain can."
"And..." I tilted my head, "how did you know he would act this way?"
