Chapter 2: Mission

"I understand, what is my first mission?" She asked. She would rather not waste time, as time wasted would not end well for her, nor the second male lead.

'Your first mission is to meet with the second male lead, and give him a kiss, you would be entitled to five hundred points, which will be enough to unlock a skill point,' the system informed her.

"What?" Yue Ning stood up in fright.

"What do you mean by that system? I believe you are out to kill me? What sort of mission is that?" Yue Ning exclaimed.

The system was speechless by her outburst. That was the easiest mission, and she thought the host would be over the moon on hearing what she had to do.

But her reaction was drastically different from what she expected.

'Host, this is the easiest mission in my panel, it is beginner's friendly,

And I had thought you would be happy knowing that you will give the second male lead a kiss, I guess I was wrong,' the system sounded dejected.

Yue Ning frowned. She was meant to be the one acting dejected. How did she switch places with the system? It made her feel like she was the bad guy.

"System, now you are aware that I cannot do what you have asked me to do, 𝑎𝑡 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑡, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑛𝑜𝑤," she whispered her last statement to herself.

"Can't you give me another task, or rather, allow me to familiarize myself with this world, I am clueless, I do not think it is time to complete missions," Yue Ning tried to coax the system.

'I am sorry, host, I would have loved to help you, but I am helpless, the developers made sure the hosts of each system complete missions once they are bound to the system,' the system apologized, but one could hear the unapologetic tone in the system's voice.

Yue Ning fell to the bed while her face showed the horror she felt within. For some reason, she felt the system aimed to embarrass her. And if it was truly the system's plans, Yue Ning had to admit, the system had won.

Yue Ning was about to confront the system, that was until she heard a knock on the door.

She breathed out before saying "come in," and the door was twisted open, before a figure walked in.

She did not recognize the one who had walked in, but she seemed to have an idea of whom she might be.

It was a lady, almost the same age as she was. They resembled each other in a way, but Yue Ning was older.

'She is Yue Chen, your sister,' the system informed, answering her unasked question.

In the novel, Yue Ning recalled that the younger sister always bullied the older sister just because she was the favored one.

But all that would change now. She was living as the older sister. She would not give anyone a chance to bully her. If that happened, then her years of learning how to survive would go to waste.

"What do you want?" Yue Ning did not give her 'sister' the chance to speak before she opened her mouth to question her.

Yue Chen was flabbergasted. She was surprised by her sister's loud tone.

The sister she knew was quiet, and always desires to fade into nothingness. She would never have expected that she would one day see her act tough.

'Get it together, Chen, this is not the time to be put off by her, you do not need to be scared of her,' Yue Chen mused to herself with her head lowered before finally looking up at her sister.

"Sister," she started with a sweet tone, causing all the hair on Yue Ning's body to rise.

If she hadn't known about the true nature of this white lotus after reading the novel, she would have been charmed by the voice.

"Speak up, and stop sounding that way, it is disgusting," you could not blame Yue Ning for her reaction.

Having grown up alone, she was used to being tough. Even during work, she was a loner. She had no friends due to her tough attitude, novels were considered to be a getaway for her.

So Yue Chen's voice right now scared her to the core.

Again, Yue Chen was surprised by her new attitude, but she did not take it to heart. Rather, she attributed it to the fact that her sister was scared and hurt because she was about to get married.

"The groom and his family are here, mom and dad are waiting for you downstairs, I was sent to call you," Yue Chen informed her, as she studied her sister's expression.

Yue Ning had a frown on her face as she heard the information, whereas, Yue Chen smiled on seeing the frown.

It was the same frown that would always show up on her sister's face whenever the matter of the marriage was brought up.

"Sister, we are all waiting," Yue Chen laughed before exiting the room.

"System, what is she on about?" Yue Ning was genuinely confused, but after thinking about the novel's plot carefully, she seemed to have come to a conclusion.

"It is time for marriage, isn't it?" She asked the system.

'Affirmative, which is why you have been tasked with that mission,' the system replied to her.

"It is settled, you and your developer are trying to kill me, you should know how much the second male lead detests me, well, not me, but you should understand what I am trying to say, how do you expect me to face him, talk more of giving him a kiss?" Yue Ning was exasperated as she paced around in the room.

'I am sorry, host, but your soul transmigrated to this plot in the novel, it is now up to you to make the plot favor you,' the system spoke in an emotionless manner.

"You are heartless," Yue Ning complained before falling to the bed with a bellyful of anger.
