It’s really just for a car wash

Chapter 10 : It's really a car wash

At first, hearing that a guest had come to wash the car, the burly man thought it was normal. However, after a moment of contemplation, his brain spun a couple of times, leaving him dumbfounded.

He could tell by the voice that there was a woman inside the car. What kind of fool would come to "wash a car" during a negotiation between the bigwigs?

His intuition told him that the other side's purpose was probably not just car washing.

Without hesitation, he reached for his weapon, preparing to make the intruder leave immediately.

But Daisy's movements were much faster than his. With a forceful push, she swung open the car door with a loud "DONG," and the burly man's head had an intimate encounter with the door. If Daisy hadn't been worried about damaging the car door, she could have used even more force.

The burly man staggered from the impact, still not understanding what was happening. Before he knew it, Daisy had pulled him inside and pressed an electric shock device against his neck. With a crackling sound, he went limp and unconscious.

Daisy lifted her foot, flipping the burly man onto his stomach.

No firearms, no knives, only a set of brass knuckles fell out of the burly man's pocket. Daisy had no idea how to use them. She looked at the remaining five individuals calmly.

Though the scenario seemed strange, she still explained her intention, "Can you guys just wash the car?..."

Whether it was the well-dressed James Wesley with his square-framed glasses, or the several Russian men, they all stood there in bewilderment. Was this really the excuse someone would use to cause trouble?

James Wesley wore an expression of amusement and took a step back.

The thin man suppressed his anger and commanded, "I don't care who sent you, now get lost!"

Three more burly men in the vicinity started to approach, eyes fixed on Daisy.

Daisy assessed their weaponry – a strange mix of melee weapons like clubs, daggers, and iron chains. She wondered if these Russian thugs preferred hand-to-hand combat or if they were just avoiding using firearms.

"Why can't I make myself clear to you? Your persecution delusions are way too strong..." Daisy took the opportunity to dart to her left before they could surround her. She dodged towards a bald man wielding an iron chain.

The iron chain was a difficult weapon to master, and this bald man was even less proficient in it. Daisy's reaction time and speed surpassed his by far.

With a feint, she slipped past him, giving him a swift kick to the rear as he bent over, sending him stumbling into his companions. Daisy gained momentum from the move and sped toward James Wesley, who was watching the scene unfold.

James Wesley's face turned pale. He might be involved in criminal activities, but he was more of a strategist and assistant. In the original timeline, he had pretended to be foolish and had been shot by the female lead of Daredevil, resulting in his unimpressive combat skills. Before he could react, Daisy was already before him.

She landed a kick to his abdomen, and while he was bent over, Daisy snatched an M1911 handgun from his holster.

Checking the magazine, she found seven rounds inside. She glanced at the gun, remarking, "Oh, a collector's edition? Mr. Wesley, your taste is quite good."

She pointed the gun at James Wesley, saying something that left everyone bewildered, "Quick, make them wash my car."

"Are you insane?" James Wesley was infuriated. He couldn't fathom that this was all about car washing.

The Russian men were equally baffled. They looked at their leader, waiting for his decision.

The thin man hesitated. His subordinates were eager to engage, but he had more to consider.

Daisy's grip on James was a fatal one. If the assistant were to die here, any potential cooperation between their organisations for real estate development would crumble. James was not only Kingpin's assistant but also a friend. Any incident involving him would be difficult to explain.

Thinking through the enemies present, he couldn't identify who would send a woman here to cause trouble. But no matter the conspiracy behind it, he had to save James. He ordered, "Go wash the car for her."

The subordinates obeyed, opening the car door and noticing the bloodstains in the back seat.

With water guns in hand, they started to clean the car. Less than ten minutes later, the entire vehicle was washed. They even replaced the seat covers in the back.

Daisy signaled for James to get into the car. She inspected it – the Russian men were skilled; they cleaned the car thoroughly, leaving no traces of blood.

She didn't mention any payment, and the Russians didn't ask for any. For Daisy, who had only five hundred dollars left, this was good news. As for the Russian thugs, they watched helplessly as she drove away with James Wesley held hostage.

"Notify the others that Mr. Wesley has been abducted by an unknown woman. The rest is none of our concern," the thin man commented, seemingly unafraid of the consequences.

Meanwhile, Daisy drove back.

"Are you covering your face because you've seen me before?" James Wesley pondered aloud, trying to find a clue.

Daisy responded with a question that wasn't an answer, "Mr. Wesley, you're quite talented – multilingual, skilled in negotiation, well-versed in modern capital operations, and excellent in your work. With such qualities, why did you choose to mix with the criminal underworld instead of pursuing a career in a big corporation?"

He looked at her curiously, trying to understand who she was. Was she from a headhunting company?

What headhunting company would approach the mob for recruitment? And point a gun at someone if they refused?

"What are you trying to say?"

"Just bored while driving, asking casually," her words lacked sincerity.

Seeing no pursuers behind them, Daisy knocked James unconscious with a single strike. She left the elite who sought money and honour, yet was bound by friendship to serve the mob, by the side of the road.

Daisy briefly considered recruiting him; he was undoubtedly talented. But thinking of his friendship with Kingpin and her meagre five hundred dollars, she gave up the idea for now.

She wiped her fingerprints from the handgun and placed it back in his holster. After restoring the license plate – which she had removed earlier – she drove to a legitimate car wash, had the car repainted and modified, and finally returned it to the rental agency.

After this series of events, only a meagre amount of the five hundred dollars remained...

With a sigh, Daisy took a bus to visit the future Uncle Punisher. If he woke up, maybe he could help reimburse her expenses.

Though rescuing someone shouldn't require a reward, she was truly broke.

Upon pushing open the door, she found an empty room.

Sensing her surroundings, Daisy detected no vibrations from Frank. She examined the scene – he had left without a trace, not even a single cent behind.

"He recovered really quickly. Is this guy's physique really that of an ordinary person?" Shaking her head, Daisy left the area.
