Chains of rainbow light wove through Ogmios Hall, creating a spectacle that captivated the masses. They swirled around the campus as if patrolling the hall, emitting melodious chimes along their path.
'What is that?' an onlooker inquired as Cori heightened his auditory awareness.
'That is the guardian of the hall,' responded the furry-fox senior.
'It's so beautiful,' remarked a junior, gazing as the passing chain projected its rainbow hues below them.
Meanwhile, in the class of Fundamental History, the lecturer was not preparing for the class. In the dark empty room, the androgynous figure bit his nails in anticipation as the lead actor said to the actress, "Is this really okay? If we continue, I don't think I can stop."
"Ahhhhhh!!!" Marvyn screamed in his heart.
The petite actress closed her eyes as the handsome lead leaned in, pausing momentarily before her lips.
Marvy: "Oh my god! Just kiss and make it official!"
Right at that very moment, the second male lead and female lead entered the room spoiling the moment. The boyish-looking girl pushed the male lead away to chase after the second male lead, with the female lead standing with her arms crossed.
Just as the drama took a twist, Cori entered the class.
Marvyn slapped away the projection upon hearing the door open and hurriedly turned on the lights. "It's late, where's the rest of the class?" he asked Cori, diverting his attention.
Cori was slightly shaken to see the holy priest as the lecturer, especially after their last encounter. Speechless, he looked at the priest blankly.
"Never mind, take a seat," the holy priest said as he tapped his nails nervously on the table, his mind still on the drama.
Cori made his way to the back and selected an inconspicuous seat this time. "Why are you sitting so far away from me? Come, sit in front," the lecturer advised.
Feeling the pressure from the authoritative figure, Cori couldn't help but obey and returned to the front row. "Seems like this will be my designated row for a while," Cori cried in his heart as it seemed he couldn't rid himself of the front-row syndrome.
Marvyn: "It's been a while since we met."
Cori: "Yes?"
Alice, who detected Cori's heartrate whispered telepathically, "Don't worry Master, if anything happens I can transform and help you escape!"
"My dear Alice, you don't have to whisper if you are using telepathy!" Cori cried in his heart, partially grateful for the gesture.
Marvyn: "Gwaenchana?"
Cori: "Huh?"
Marvyn: "Hmmm did I pronounce it wrong?"
Cori was sweating bullets, "How should I reply? Does he know the actual meaning? Or is he testing me?"
The holy priest shrugged it off and said, "If you get to know a person, if you get to know them, nothing they do bothers you. And I know you."
Cori blinked his eyes with a perplexed look on his face, "Sorry? What did you say?"
"I'm sure he heard it clearly the first time," Marvyn thought to himself. He cleared his throat and explained, "I know all about you Cori. And it would be best if you address me as Master Marvyn."
Alice fumed in the backpack, "No one has the right to make Cori their underling!" But in consideration of the situation, it analysed that it would be safer to stay hidden and quiet. Still, Alice couldn't help but send a telepathic message to Cori, "Do you need me to teach this guy a lesson, Master!"
"No!" Cori shouted unintentionally. "Noooo, I mean you're the Holy Priest. And that takes precedence. I should call you 'Your Holiness' instead," Cori said to salvage the confusion.
"Hmmm, I like the sound of that, let's keep it that way," Marvyn smirked. "So how much do you know about this planet?" he continued.
"Nothing really, Your Holiness," Cori answered.
"Not even her name?"
"Yes," Cori replied.
"Well, I expected as much," the holy priest answered leaning back on his desk. "Seeing as you are, an orphan, I shall spare you the torture of ignorance," he continued and drew on the board, "This planet is known as Eo. And on Eo is the Mundus which is further divided into the firmament, the world, and the underworld. And that is the general geography of Eo. But since today's lesson is fundamental history. You, especially you should know that there are 2 versions of history. The one known by the Gods and the one known by the inhabitants. Sadly, the true history has been buried by both Gods and monsters. But I can assure you that the history known by the Gods is more accurate than the ones by monsters. So what is your desire?"
Cori felt oddly relaxed and fell into a deep state of trance.
Alice sensing odd fluctuations from Cori's health reading, yelled frantically telepathically, "Master! Are you okay?"
"I desire to go home," Cori said then snapping out of the trance shortly, "What did you do to me?"
Marvyn: "Nothing. I merely asked which version of history you prefer to know."
Alice, "You told him you wanted to go home, Master."
Sensing no curses or hexes, Cori let down his guard while Alice remained vigilant against the holy priest.
"Don't worry Alice, I don't sense any malice," Cori replied in his mind but since Alice could only predict what Cori thought instead of reading his mind, it stayed unresponsive. "If I have a choice, I would prefer to know the real history, Your Holiness," Cori answered.
Marvyn let out a hearty laugh after witnessing Cori calm and composed demeanour against his imposing figure. But before he could divulge the information, the rest of the class started to flood in.
"I guess that's for another time. If you wish to know, come see me after class," he replied. As usual, the priest's charm increased with the incremental slimes. Many falling in love at first sight.
"Looks like the fan club will be increasing in size again this year," said a slime with a halo to Cori. "I don't think we have met. I'm Shanson," the slime said extending out a hand and a smile. Cori took out his paw and shook his hand, "I'm Cori, nice to meet you."
