Chapter 26: An Exact Copy

Max sighed heavily as he loosened his tie and pulled it over his head; the cool silk slid through his fingers as he shoved it into his trouser pocket. He was sitting at a small table in the back corner of his favorite hole-in-the-wall bar - Benny's. The small bar was not too far from his apartment and he'd never been photographed here. Having anonymity every once in a while was a nice change.

The dimly lit bar consisted of one long bar along the right sight of the room with booths and tables on the left side. The bathrooms were at the back, behind Max's table, where there were also a few pool tables and a dart board.

To say that it had been a long week would be an understatement - Max was still reeling from his meeting with Gemma a few nights earlier. He couldn't help but feel worried that his relationship might be really over.

"Not a great start to the night…" he muttered to himself as he slid his hand around his cold glass, intent on starting on his gin and tonic.
