Chapter 18 First Place

Lin Tian whistled as he pushed his bike, following Bu Mengting into the neighborhood.

Bu Mengting stalked ahead with rapid steps. She knew Lin Tian was right behind her, but she didn't acknowledge him.

After a distance, Bu Mengting realized the pervert was still behind her, and, irritated, she spun around to glare at Lin Tian, "Hey, why do you keep following me!"

"Following you? No, not at all," Lin Tian glanced at Bu Mengting strangely, "I was heading this way too. It's not like I can't go this way just because you are!"

"You..." Bu Mengting was momentarily at a loss for words. After pausing, she turned around, somewhat dejected, and continued walking on. Her steps, however, quickened quite a bit.

Lin Tian pursed his lips and continued pushing his bike forward.

After some time, Bu Mengting realized the pervert had finally stopped following her. While relieved, she couldn't help feeling a tinge of loss for some reason.

Meanwhile, Lin Tian was parking his bike under the shed at the bottom of his apartment block. At the same time, he noticed that the girl had just entered the building where he lived.

"Maybe she's a neighbor!" Lin Tian mused as he locked his bike securely.

Having locked his bike, Lin Tian bounded up the stairs. When he reached the third floor, suddenly, his steps halted.

Bu Mengting!

Lin Tian spotted the girl again.

At that moment, Bu Mengting was using her keys to unlock her door.

Lin Tian glanced at Bu Mengting and said with a smile, "So you live here, we are neighbors after all!"

"Who's your neighbor!" Bu Mengting snorted through her nose, turned her head away, and continued to unlock her door.

"We really are neighbors though!" Lin Tian chuckled, pulling out his keys and opening the door opposite to Bu Mengting's.

He opened his door, turned around, and said cheerfully, "See, I'm here, and you're there. Aren't we neighbors!"

Bu Mengting was speechless, swiftly opened her door, and with a bang, slammed it shut.

Lin Tian looked at the firmly closed door opposite his, shrugged his shoulders, then opened his own door and went inside.

As Lin Tian changed his shoes, he thought to himself, "Didn't expect a little sister from next door, but I don't remember such a beautiful girl living across from me. Maybe I just didn't know her before."

As Lin Tian opened his door, people in the living room heard the sound.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Shi Qing looked up from her conversation with a friend in the living room and saw her son coming in, saying immediately, "You're back, go wash your hands quickly, we are about to eat."

"Oh, I know!" Lin Tian replied casually as he finished changing his shoes.

"Is that Lin Tian coming back? Why didn't he come back with my son Wang Bing?" A somewhat familiar voice came from the sofa in the living room.

Lin Tian turned his head to look, his expression instantly turning helpless: "Why is she here again."

This person was Lin Tian's mother's friend, Lin Qin, who also lived in the Green Light neighborhood, just below Lin Tian's apartment.

The neighbors did not know when Lin Tian's mother and Lin Qin had become friends.

At first, it was alright, but later on, Lin Tian began to dislike her.

Lin Qin always liked to boast about her son, always talking about how great he is. It was enough to drive anyone crazy!

And ignoring her was not an option, as Lin Qin's son Wang Bing attended the same school as Lin Tian and they were in the same grade.

However, the difference was that Wang Bing was a top student, consistently ranking in the top twenty of his year during the monthly tests.

As for Lin Tian, forget about the whole grade, even within his class, he was considered a poor student.

Therefore, every time Lin Qin bragged about her son, Lin Tian had to suffer because his mother would always compare him to Wang Bing.

And what left Lin Tian speechless was that every time he saw Lin Qin, she always had to show off her son.

Indeed, this time was no exception. Seeing Lin Tian, Lin Qin, sitting on the sofa, said cheerfully, "The monthly exam results are coming out today, right?"

"Yes!" Lin Tian responded, somewhat listlessly. Actually, he didn't want to bother with her at all, but ignoring her would be impolite, so he had no choice but to reply with a lack of enthusiasm.

But obviously, Lin Qin didn't notice Lin Tian's reluctance and continued to speak for herself, "My son Wang Bing said that this monthly exam was quite difficult, but getting 600 points is still no problem for him. He said he should probably rank in the top 15 of the whole grade!"

Lin Tian didn't bother to tell them that he didn't need anyone's help since he was actually the top student in his class.

While Lin Tian kept quiet, Lin Qin continued to ramble on, "My son Wang Bing has actually always had very good grades since he was young. And he's such a good boy, never gets into fights at school!"

"I'm so envious of you, if only Lin Tian were half as obedient!" Shi Qing said with a tone of heavy envy.

"It's okay, actually Lin Tian is not bad either, just his grades might be somewhat lacking. But with Wang Bing's help tutoring, they should improve," Lin Qin said with a grin.

"I don't mean the last place, I mean the real, top first rank! This monthly exam I scored 704 points, rank one in the whole grade!" Lin Tian said with a composed expression.

"Lin Tian, don't joke around!" Shi Qing looked at her son with dissatisfaction, thinking he was telling lies.

Not just Shi Qing, but Lin Qin next to her didn't believe Lin Tian's words either.

"I'm telling the truth!" Lin Tian felt somewhat helpless. Just as he was about to continue explaining, suddenly, the sound of the door opening came from the entrance.

With the sound of the door, from afar they could hear his sister Lin Fang shouting excitedly, "Mom, I have earth-shattering news to tell you, brother actually really got the first rank!"

The first rank?

Hearing this, Shi Qing was taken aback and glanced at her son unconsciously, thinking to herself, "Could it be that my son really achieved the first rank? But how could that be possible?"
