Chapter 12: The Truth

"It seems like the two of you are still confused" Dr. Reece said.

"We are indeed confused, what's actually happening?" I asked.

"To be honest, I don't know where to start since a lot of things happened back then" Dr. Reece said.

"Start from what happened in our timeline after I was gone" I said, and Glady also agrees.

"After the first test of the time machine, that's when the chaos and problems started.

The time machine actually malfunctioned and exploded.

It is really a good thing that you're not that affected by the explosion because of the suit.

We took you to the nearest hospital, but you are in a deep comma.

After that, we discovered that you created a portal or wormhole, it was never visible in the human naked eye, but we are actually detecting the energy that it is emitting.

We decided to continue the research, created few modifications on the machine and then after that we were able to utilize that you created.

After that, we discovered that it was connected to 2017.

The machine makes us freely move from the original timeline to 2017.

But then, we discovered that the explosion wasn't an accident.

The UN planned the explosion, so that the public won't think that the project was a success, instead, they want to make it look like it have fail but they just really want a full take over on the project.

That's where the problem started, specially when they have discovered that we are planning to alter the present by going to the past and utilizing the blueprint.

They have theorized that the reason that there is a wormhole is because you actually managed to time travel, not physically, but your consciousness.

After that, they have thought that maybe it was all planned by us.

It was all planned by us to only send someone in the past, mentally, and then use the time machine for our own good, for our own sake.

Few weeks from that, Glady started to disappear without a trace.

The cameras on the lab are rigged, it seems like someone kidnapped her.

Few days after that, she is already found dead.

Professor Reginald and I already thought that she was killed by the UN.

After that, Reginald is the one who vanished.

Knowing that I was next, I envaded the UN's facility and secretly used one of the time machines.

I'm finally able to use the time machine to go back to the past, without them knowing.

But after that, I saw how Amiel died with my own two hands.

Two days after that, it was Glady.

I took both of your body and took it to the time machine.

It is a good thing that only our consciousness are able to travel back in time, not our physical body. If it is, then the two of you are already dead by now" Dr. Reece explained.

"So in short, it was a completr and utter chaos back there?" Glady asked.

"But there is one thing also" said by Dr. Reece.

"What is it?" me and Glady both asked at the same time.

"Actually, most of the major organization and countries are after UN because of the leaked information in regards to the time machine.

Some of those countries and organization are also after us.

If they have managed to time travel, I'm pretty sure that they'll use their best to eliminate us" Dr. Reece said.

"I'm confused, didn't you said that we are already dead in the past? Why would they even come after us?" I asked.

"Because they are aware that we have managed to time travel.

Logically speaking, because of the alteration of events, the 4 of us actually stopped existing on the original timeline, and the two of you stopped exisiting already in 2017.

That's why if they havr managed to find you here, in 2016, things will be a lot worse.

Time is definitely really complicated, that's why I certainly think that it is a complete mistake that we toyed with it in the first place" Dr. Reece said.

"Just for a nobel price, huh? We risked everything, the whole cosmos and timeline just for the sake of getting an award" I said.

Both Glady and Reece actually found my joke really funny, they both laughed.

"So? What's our plan right now?" I asked Dr. Reece.

"I wasn't so sure actually, I'm baffled on this whole process. Whatever we do, it will only just make the timeline really complicated" he said.

"By the way, I'm really sorry for your loss, Amiel" he added.

"You knew?" I asked.

"Of course, I actually knew about that. If only I was not halfway late, then I think that we could still save her" he added.

"Don't worry, it was completely and utterly my fault" I said.

"But didn't the whole time travel thing our idea? It was originally our idea. That makes me also responsible for her death, all four of us" he said.

"No worries, Reece" I said.

"But wait, aren't we forgetting something? How about Professor Reginald? Did he came back here also?" I asked.

"He is indeed back, I also brought him back here after saving the two of you, I figured that he might be next. I think the four of us should meet as soon as possible to devise a plan, what do you think?" he answered.

"Let's do it. With out minds, nothing is impossible, as long as the four of us are together then there's nothing to worry about" I said.

"Let's all change contact information" said by Glady.

"Okay. Let's all meet in friday. I'll give you all an update. Besides, out of the four of us, I'm the most influential in this time, we can easily find a private and secured place to conduct a meeting" Dr. Reecr said.

"For now, all of us should stay lowkey, none of us should stay quiet for the mean time" I added.

"Understood" both of them agreed.

After that talk, we all decided to go home.

It is much better to go home before it gets dark, specially right now, when we are in danger.

As I'm walking by, I, again, saw a very familiar figure.

It was Maia.

I was really glad to see her, but I need to stay away from her in this timeline.

We still have lots of enemies right now, I can't afford to get her in danger, I must protect her at all cost.

"Hey!" she shouted as she sees me walk toward her direction.

I only looked at her and didn't even tried to respond.

"I thought that you are already going home earlier. I never thought that I would see here again on the streets.

Actually, I read numerous books in the library, that's why I'm only going home at this time" she said.

"Huh? I didn't even asked why it took you a while to go home. I actually don't give a fuck" I said.

Oh my god, am I too harsh on her?

But I don't want her to get too close to me. Being close to me makes her a target for the people that's after me. I don't want to suffer from that scenario again.

"Wow, I've never thought that you're not even interested on becoming friends with me. Why are you avoiding me by the way? Do you hate me?" she asked.

"I do, I do hate you" I replied.

"The sound of your voice, your looks, everything about you makes me irritated" I added.

"I like you, and I'll make you like me too. I'll do my best to make sure of that" she said.

What she said is really blunt, I'm not used to this. I've never seen this side of her even before.

"You're blushing. Haha. Do you also like me?" she asked.

"No" I answered.

"I get it, you're just shy" she said this while laughing.

"Be prepared, I'll always try to stick to your side and make you fall inlove me. I don't give up that easily" she said.
