She has taken the shortcut and her speed was so fast that they ended up losing her.
Andrew already knew Veronica too perfectly to know that no matter what happens, she will never surrender herself to the police.
That's why he was observing her too closely and just like he thought, she was out of their sight. But since, he was too observing her actions, even more than the police who were a little distracted after her announcement, he saw which road was taken by her.
He followed her and when he looked in the side mirror, the police weren't there. He was looking at her with a proud smile.
She was really smart and he had no doubt about that but his smile and happiness were short-lived as the police soon started following him again.
And this time, he was only present there. She was out of sight. He knew that no matter how difficult it gets, he will be eventually able to get out of the cell in a few hours.
But it won't be appreciated by his father. He was already mad at him and he didn't want to get on his bad side again.
He wasn't the most loving father out there.
And the made men were going to talk about years. As professional as they were, he has to admit that he isn't loved by everyone.
Sure they are afraid of him and respect him for how he was but loving him isn't something either of them does. They were here to love him, they were here for their own business. They were here to earn money and have power.
They were here for a position.
He didn't stop and continued to drive until he noticed that there was nothing but a wall before him. He had nowhere to go and the surrounding was now the only option.
"You should surrender now. If you give up easily then the punishment is going to be less but if you are stubborn then we can't guarantee the future," the police said and Andrew started sweating.
Past flashbacks were coming into his mind one by one.
His vision started to get blurry as he was too nervous.
"Come out, Andrew. If you hide then the punishment is going to rise and you won't love it. Nobody can save you from me," little Andrew was shaking in a corner.
He was praying to God to show mercy on him. His hands were shaking.
He knew that playing outside despite his father telling him not to was a bad idea and he shouldn't have done it.
Even if he did, he should have gone there some other time. Even his mother wasn't at home to save him now.
If she was here then the chances of him getting less punishment was larger. But now, his last hope was gone as well.
His eyes were tearing up. He could hear the sounds of shoes coming near and his heartbeat that was going at such a speed that he could hear the loud sounds.
He felt like everything he ate before was about to come out. He was feeling full till his neck.
"God, only this time. Save me this time, please. I promise to never disobey my father ag-" but his prayers weren't answered.
"Found you. You should have come out by yourself. You know that I don't like cowards, don't you? Wait, are you crying? Aren't you a man? How can you cry? It's a sign of weakness," the voice said.
This voice was too familiar. The person to whom this voice belongs was supposed to protect him from this entire world but he's the same person from whom he needs protection.
It was none other than his own father.
"I am sorry, father. Forgive me this time. I promise to never disobey you again. I will never ask to go out to play," he was literally begging with tears in his eyes.
"If I give you a chance now then you are never going to learn and you are going to commit the same mistake again. As your father, it's my duty to discipline you. I can't fail as a father. You need to act like a man."
He said all of these while giving him a weird smile and Andrew knew that his father wasn't in the right state of his mind.
He was having some trouble with the other gangs and that's why his head was hotter than at other times.
And he was taking out his anger on the perfect prey, someone who would never open his mouth against him, his one and only son.
Soon the empty room filled up with the cries of a helpless little boy who was no older than 7 years.
Andrew cried and cried and cried and cried until he didn't have the energy to cry anymore. That's the day when he started fearing his father more than ever.
He was afraid of him before but on that fateful night, he grew the fear of his own father.
He was told to keep his mouth shut and never tell anyone what happened there. He was told that if someone else finds out about these then he was going to get a worse punishment and that person was going to suffer as well.
Andrew didn't want his loved ones to suffer because of him and to save them from sufferings, he suffered in silence.
All of these traumatized him so much that despite turning into an adult, he couldn't forget anything.
He was still as traumatized as before.
Andrew felt like he was going to pass out and that was the end of his tough reputation.
But this time, God listened to his prayers even though he didn't pray. The police got out of the car to catch him but just in time, the entire place filled up with fog.
"Who's that?"
"Told you before, you are the man but I got the power. I am still the one in control. See you never again ~"
