Long after Sharlene left, Ace peeked at his son since he noticed he stopped crying while he continued to chat with Kai and Rome. A few times, he tried offering him his pacifier, but he never took it. The baby snorted as Ace could tell by his gaze that Rose finally hushed him with her sweet hum from being far away.
As the baby scrutinized his dad, he also recognized Kai and Rome since he heard their voices countless times inside his mother's womb to know them too. Although, he whimpered again because he didn't see his Mommy. Sure, Daddy would come and go, but Mommy would always be here even if she left, she'd return right away. So the baby mewled again as he whimpered a frequency to her that didn't have any perfect vibration since he was only a newborn. From afar, Rose's soft lullaby croon reached him again, and his louder wail gradually softened into a snorting-like whimper.
Noticing the look, Ace rewound the timer on his swing, and the baby further calmed down from being fussy.
"He's finally calming down," Rome stated as he watched him swing back and forth in a gentle motion. For a while now, he hasn't stopped fussing since he woke him by mistake.
"Rose must've soothed him," Ace theorized as he peeked at his phone to notice Jack still hadn't replied to him, but he didn't say anything about it to the others.
Jack was known to sometimes lose his phone. Not worried about it, he grabbed the glass baby bottle from the stand that was at the side of the couch, and then he bit his wrist. He filled the glass baby bottle at about two ounces full with his blood.
"Feed him this for me. It should be enough until Rose gets back to nurse him," he told Rome since he loved interacting with babies.
Still sitting on the floor, Rome gladly took the bottle and stopped the swing to feed the vamp baby the bottle of blood. Sure enough, the newborn began to suckle it down in small gulps as his tiny eyes shimmered a red tint.
"Once he's done eating, we should gather everyone and head to Evan's party," Rome suggested.
After swallowing down a mouth full of blood from his wine bottle, Kai smirked. "I think Ivan and Mia are too busy with each other in the dungeon."
Out of all the places to be intimate, they were in a dungeon, which he found to be humorous.
Ace chuckled as he tried not to think too deeply about that thought since it would make him yearn for his wife. "We can get everyone at the museum. Victoria can't sleep yet anyway. Maybe a fun party would keep her awake," he suggested his idea.
"Hum, I guess we could." Kai hummed since he wasn't planning on going. Then again, attending a party with his wife sounds more fun than only going with his friends and family.
With that decided in his head, he picked up the phone and started to text her. "Why don't you wrap it up? Evan is throwing a party tonight at his new beach house. It will give us something to do if you are interested," he sent her and then waited for a response.
Already, the time past midnight, and he mentally sensed his three offspring were asleep in her womb. Kai couldn't believe an hour had gone by that fast. Victoria's last text was sent at 11:40 at night, and it was already 12:38 at midnight.
"Where did the time go?" Kai questioned out loud. They were only talking while the baby had been crying on and off until now.
"It's funny how that happens," Ace remarked since he noticed it did fly by faster than he thought as well.
"He's done eating. Let's head over to the museum," Rome affirmed after he pulled the nipple out of his mouth.
The baby was still wide awake, but now he was more content. So Rome rewound his swing and hoped maybe he would go back to sleep.
After finishing the last amount of his wine bottle of blood, Kai announced, "I'm ready whenever you guys are."
"Let's head out." Ace stood as he looked at his phone.
Kai and Rome followed him out of the living room, which left the vamp baby by himself in the swing.
The baby noticed his Daddy had left like he usually did, but he knew he'd be back eventually, and maybe when he did, he'd come back with his Mommy. At least, that's what he was thinking inside his innocent brain. He'd cry again, but since his belly was full and his swing was rocking, he decided to give his Daddy a break since his Daddy's funny friend fed him and rewound his swing. After all, he loved his swing because it reminded him of the way mommy would always rock him.
So the newborn vamp baby stared at the ceiling as he rocked in the swing, and he imagined Mommy's face. Voices he recognized reentered the room, but he still didn't hear the sweet voice of his mother.
"This is exactly why my Grandma said vampires should never be left unsupervised with a vamp baby," Rome laughed when they walked back into the living room.
Ace stepped over to his son in the swing, and shook his head laughing. "I can't believe I almost left you here by yourself." He kneeled lower to his son, and he had his son curl his tiny fingers around his pointer finger. "Good thing you can't talk to Mommy, or Daddy would be dead."
Not only did the baby crack a coo with a faint smile, but Kai and Rome chuckled too.
"Now, what are we going to do with him?" Kai outwardly pondered as he tried to stop chuckling.
Ace stood up from kneeling, and he sighed, "I'm not sure."
"Summon for Rose?" Rome suggested an obvious answer that would solve their dilemma.
But Ace disagreed. "No, I can't do that. This is her first time out since she's had him. She needs a break too."
"Yeah, you're right about that," Rome replied once he thoroughly thought about it.
"Has Jack answered you yet?" Kai asked, and Ace shook his head no. He then checked his phone and saw Victoria hadn't replied to him either as the time was nearing one o'clock in the morning.
"Jack likely lost his phone again," Rome stated as Kai recalled that Victoria said he was taking a walk somewhere. Maybe it was plausible that he was walking around to find his phone at the museum.
