Chapter 17: Human Town (V)
Brown spiky let out serious expression upon hearing Morax words.
"Looks like we won't be needed you here. Take him out!" Brown spiky said and ordered the knight near the door. The knight moved towards Morax, as the knight was about to grab Morax's shoulder with his hand, I grabbed the Knight's hand and the knight suddenly felt coldness in his hand as it slowly starting to to become ice.
"Ugh..." The knight felt the pain from his wrist that's slowly turning to ice. The Knight's hand and shoulder had completely became a hard ice, it happens so fast that now... The Knight's whole body became an ice sculpture.
"What?!" brown spiky was shocked as he noticed that the ground and his feet was turning into ice. "What did you do?" Brown spiky asked angrily. He stretch out his hand towards his frozen feet and cast a spell, "Oh flame of the sun, lend me your powers fireball." Then a ball of fire formed in front his palm and shoot it to his frozen feet. However, the fire didn't do anything except hurting himself. I stand up for my seat and walk closer towards brown spiky, as he notice me moved, he began to panic. "No... Stay away," he said in a clearly terrified voice.
He's afraid, not because I just froze his feet, it's because I used {Fatality Revision} to forcibly change his confidence to fear and {Shadow Manipulation} to make my presence emits an evil aura. As I was now near him, his eyes and whole body were shaking in fear. "By the way, about your offer from earlier..." I paused as I lean closer to him, then a beautiful sadistic smile appeared on my face and continue my words, "I Refuse." I tapped his shoulder and turning him into another ice sculpture.
I stood up straight and walk towards the door. "Are you going there?" Morax ask. "Yes," I replied. "Can't be help then," Morax said as he stood up and came closer to me, then he added, "I'll go with you." We went out the office, walk around the hallway and went a certain room. We are now standing in front of a room that emits a large amount of mana from the inside. I slowly open the door and went in, then the voice from earlier echoes in my head even louder. [H... help pl... please] upon entering the room, I saw a beautiful sapling and two men playing cards. The men noticed me and one of them asked, "are you the one in charge of serving us today? Your beautiful i must say." "You! You can go now, we'll make sure she'll have a good time here," the other man told Morax to leave with a creepy smirk.
I walk towards the sapling. "Oh, your rather obedient compare to the others and you not a demi human slave at that," one of the men said as they thought I was going to there direction well, they're not wrong since the sapling is behind them. Morax was just leaning on the corner of the door, watching how I handle the situation. Unknowingly to the two men, my shadow were getting bigger on the floor covering theirs. Then, two giant sharp spikes that was made out of my shadow merges out below them and made a barbecue out of the two men, killing them almost instantly. Then, their bodies were completely swallowed by my shadow, I learned this trick from Morax just by watching him.
"Talk about merciless, you didn't even hesitate," Morax said but for me, that was a complement. "Hehe~ look who's talking," i replied.
[Pl... Plea... Please... Hel... Help me...] The sapling was crying out for help, it was suffering in pain and many negative emotion were filled inside it. "Don't worry, i'm here now. I promise I'll save you," as I said those words I began to use {Shadow Manipulation} to gently absorb the saplings lifeforce and {Arcane Manipulation} to make it feel warm and fuzzy. [Th... Thank you, I feel... Bet... ter... Now.] The sapling said as it's life was completely drained by me, it was slowly turning black until it's completely withered as it died. "Rest well," I said with warm expression.
"Why did you do that?" Morax asked. Then I replied, "because there's no other choice." "But there is, you could have heal it, then it'll be good as new," Morax said. I kinda feel like his testing me or something, but I let him be. "I know," I replied as I turn around to face him. "Then why did you kill it?" Morax asked with a smile. "It was suffering for a long time, right? I can tell that it doesn't want to live anymore, so I gave it a warm death," I replied honestly. Morax came closer to me, he starts to caressing my head and said with a proud smile, "wise choice." I just gave him a warm smile as my reply to his complement.
Suddenly, a white shining crystal came out of the dead sapling, the crystal was floating a few inches above the withered sapling. Then, the crystal let out a voice, a woman's "Thank you, whoever you are, Thank you for saving my child from her suffering." I turned to look at the crystal and asked. "Who are you?" It replied, "I do not have a name, but I am known as the World Tree or the Tree of Life." It's the eldritch sprout's mother, huh. "I accept your thanks, so bye now," I said as I was about to walk towards the door, but the crystal stopped me. "Wait! I contacted you to make a deal," the crystal said. I turned around and asked "What deal?" I also noticed that Morax was just standing near me, listening while crossing his arms. "My connection here is fading, I don't have much time left, so please go to the north, the center part of the world, that way I can tell you the details," the crystal said. "Uhm, I'll think about it," I replied. "Thank you..." The crystal said, then the light vanished and the crystal dropped to the withered sapling.
I took the crystal and look at Morax who's smiling like he just saw something that piqued his interest. "What do you think abou-" as I was about to asked him a question, the door got destroyed and four knights entered the room while holding sword. They pointed their swords at us and then, one of them shouted, "Capture them!" They launch them towards us and tried to swing their swords. But, I expanded my shadow and made four sharp pillars that pierce through their stomachs. ""Ugh,"" they let out a pained voice and died, then let my shadow eat them. It's pretty similar to what I did from earlier.
