Thoughts of what Calvin was going to tell me earlier floated around my head for a split second as I digested his news. Not having enough to go off, I had no choice but to agree with irritation - though I didn't let it show in my voice. He continued to profusely apologize, so I made up some excuse about getting ahead on writing a paper for English class. If I was being totally honest, I really wasn't up for any company after the exchange I'd had with Calvin anyway.
I was moping the rest of my way home when my interest was peaked by a nearby conversation. There were four older guys I'd never seen before standing around the entrance of my building, the guy speaking had multiple piercings and a sleeve of tattoos on both arms. He looked like someone I'd picture Ken hanging around with. I bit the inside of my lower lip and purposefully slowed my steps in order to catch the end of what he was saying.
