The World's Greatest Conductor

A conductor can transfer heat, electric charge, and sound. If you became a conductor, how would it feel? Maybe you can become an inventor, or maybe you can smite all and become a recognizable face among everyone. Evren might do both.

A Cold Winter

It had been about 7 years since Evren started experimenting with his abilities. He had written and stored countless papers in his room, piles tied with string. Evren let his hair grow long, and he had finished schooling. It was obvious among the villagers that his intellect was on another level, but they were shocked at his adeptness at using his abilities.

Evren walked out of the house and greeted his mother, who was caring for two more children beside a fire on their property.

"Hey mom, have you seen dad around? He said it would be good for me to go hunting."

"He is waiting on the edge of the forest. Say bye to your siblings before you go."

Evren warmed up his hands with his breath. He was wearing thick sleeves made of various materials but had nothing on his hands."Baras! Yorin! Come give me a hug!"

Two little boys ran up; they matched Evren's parents, with Yorin having the same obsidian hair as Orin and Baras having that golden elf hair. The 6-year-old twins would be identical if it weren't for that difference.

Evren ruffled their hair and smiled."Do you guys like candy?"

Both of their eyes had a glow of excitement. Yorin jumped up and down and said, "Yeah, yeah!"

Evren pulled out two sugar rock candies and gave them to the little ones.

"Alright, I've got to go. See you in a bit."

Boras and Yorin waved. "Bye-Bye"

Evren trekked down to the forest and spotted his father in the air with a bow and an axe ready for use.

"Evren."

"Yes, dad?"

"Catch." His father threw the bow down and smirked."You need to learn how to hunt."

Evren looked at the bow closely, noting the intricate designs and various patterns on the ivory-looking bow, like purple veins running through it.

"I don't need the bow."

"Yes, you do," his father slowly descended down and smiled. "You may not have noticed, but that's not a normal bow. Its a basic enchanted bow to make magic arrows."

Evren noted that in his mind. "So, how do you use it?"

"For me, I need skin contact, and it just works; just don't force it too much. Don't forget, it's an antique from your grandfather."

"Okay."

Evren drew the bow back but was slapped in the back of the head by his father. He somehow failed to notice he was pointing the bow towards the village. After he corrected himself, he drew the bow and aimed at a tree deep in the forest.

"Dad, is there anyone in the forest at the moment?"

"Most likely, just aim upwards; it's a hill, so they are at a lower altitude than us right now."

"Okay, I'm going to begin."

"Ready when you are."

Evren focused on the center of the bow and began focusing on a broken branch on a tree. He noted that he should go easy on the bow, so when he felt his power being pulled out, he tried to reduce it to a minimum.

When he truly focused, a light formed in between his fingers, breaking his focus. His father gave him some tips before he tried again. This time, the light grew to a light blue hue, and his hair lifted due to static.

Orin sighed and talked inwardly."We need to cut that hair."

Evren's arm began heating up, but all the heat left through his hand. The padding he wore on his arms greatly increased the power of his electricity, but at the cost of mobility. He struggled to bend his elbow to pull the string, but he didn't give in.

His dad pitched in. "The more power you put in, the harder it is to draw, so start easy."

Evren breathed slowly and steadied his heartbeat. He couldn't know the exact moment it would go, but he waited, and it finally released. The streak of light danced through the forest, charring branches and leaves it met along the way. When it collided, it left a pretty good dent in a big tree far out. Evren smiled and wiped some sweat off his face. He had tested the release of his abilities before, but now he was sure. The padding down his arm was a success, and you could say he increased the firepower using less fuel.

His father clapped his hands and grabbed the bow from Evren. Just as Evren noticed a rabbit from up on the hill, it immediately collapsed. Orin had shot it clean through, leaving a barely noticeable wound.

"Evren, you can hunt one with me, but we can't sell the ones you hunt; they would be scorched all over. I am able to hunt without worry because the wind doesn't really leave a wound."

Evren nodded, and they spent a few more hours hunting, catching 3 more rabbits. Afterwards, they returned home to butcher all four and sell some of the meat. The remaining were going to be eaten for dinner.

"Evren, let's get that hair chopped up, okay?"

"Yeah, I almost forgot!"

"Hey, Lilia, honey? Can you fetch the scissors?"

"Alright, do you want me to cut it as well?"

"No, you can make dinner; I'll do it."

Evren listened to them talk before getting his hair trimmed; it had gotten pretty long and was in the way most of the time. When it was over, he looked into the wash bucket and approved of the job. They went to eat and were about to head to bed, but the fire to keep the house warm wouldn't start, and it got cold quick.

"Honey, the wood is too wet; I can't get it to light with the usual method."

"Orin, are you sure? We can't sleep when its this cold."

Orin blew warm air into his hands in the dark house."Yeah, I don't know what to do."

Evren yawned and walked into the room with a smirk on his face. This smirk wasn't visible to the others.

"I know; let me try."

As soon as Evren lifted the arm with the padding, he immediately started a fire with the heat and electric energy from his body. Nobody was surprised, just proud.
