Get over it

Having dropped Yara at the hospital, Shark ordered his men to keep a close eye on her. He then stepped on the gas and sped off to the Griffins private hospital to check up on his mother.

"Dad? What happened?" Shark walked towards his father sitting on the chaise lounge in Vanessa's room.

"She took an overdose of antidepressants." Almond muttered.

Shark drew closer to his mother's bed and checked out the IV drip. Vanessa's calm face when she was asleep appeared quite ironic to him. He knew his mother was a sinister, plotting against him with that rascal, Rocco Burton. He was just giving the two some time especially now that Blake was the third party in their game. The latter was Rocco's plan B. Initially, Vanessa's ulterior motive was to get rid of Yara but now she wanted to do more, getting Carina to marry to the Griffins to protect her reputation. She never liked Yara for her son, a commoner and a sickling for that matter.

Shark was tracking them down one by one without their knowledge. He had to watch out for Blake, he could easily manipulate Yara since they had an history. Moreover, they were studying at the same campus.

"You knew your mother was having an affair and you didn't care to tell me about it. I thought we were so close....like confidants."

His father's sudden revelation jolted his mind back to reality.

"I'm sorry father, it wasn't my place to tell you all about it." He muttered.

"We had an heated argument last night and I'm the reason why she ended up here. I don't blame your mother because I'm not that perfect. I could never bring myself to love her and she sought love elsewhere." Almond confessed.

"It's not your fault that you loved that golden girl to death, the heart gets what it wants Dad."

"How come...."

"I've always known that you loved someone else for a long time now. She's dead but still lives in your heart." Shark patted his shoulder lightly.

"And it's something I have to let go for the sake of peace in this family. I don't want to be at crossroads with your mother ever again."

"That's for you to decide." He smiled fondly at his father.

The doctor barged in holding a file and cleared his throat to acknowledge his presence.

"It wasn't only an overdose of paroxetine, I'm afraid there's more. Traces of meth were also found in her blood. Meth is fatal and is one of the illegal drugs that can cause rapid weight loss. I don't think it's quite popular but whoever gave it to her must be mixing the drugs with highly flammable chemicals." The doctor gave his report.

"Will she be okay?" Almond expressed his worry.

"She's safe and will wake up after the IV drip treatment is completed. However, I must say that she needs to be under observation because Meth is addictive. She could end up losing her life." The doctor noted.

"Thanks Aldo. I'll put that into consideration." Almond shook his hand.

"I'll have to be on my rounds."

"By all means Doc." Shark permitted him.

After the door closed, Almond hissed with displeasure.

"I wonder what your mother has been up to." He paced up and down the room.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of it. Excuse me Dad, I have to make a call." Shark walked out and made his way to the lobby. He dialed a number and waited for the receiver to answer.

"Aston Federal Bureau of Investigation Agency, how can I help you?"

"I have sent a link to your office email. I want you to bring someone in for questioning. Everything you need to know is attached with the link."

"May I know who's this..."

Before the receiver could satisfy her curiosity, Shark disconnected the call and sent a text to Marcus.

[Have your men destroy Rocco's Warehouses and Labs....leave no traces]

Shark wore a smug smile despite knowing the dangers of stumbling over Rocco Burton. He was in his moment when Carina startled him.

"What the heck are you doing here?" Shark couldn't be easy on her.

"Chillax Shark, I'm here to see Aunt Vanessa or should I say...my future mother-in-law.

"And how did you know she's here?"

"Of course I know, your mother and I were supposed to meet up but she didn't show up so...."

"Drop the act Carina, I know you have been following me around like a prick. Now I understand the reason why you recently haven't been wriggling your bottoms on those red carpets. You have the all the time in the world to peek on my bedroom...."

"That's not true!" Carina fumed.

"So much anger...get over it Carina. How about you tell me the black Benz that has been parked a few metres away from my house. Let's cut the chase here, you're stalking me aren't you?"

"You got me." Carina forced a smile. "I hope to see you tomorrow night."

"Sorry?"

"I'm sure my Dad has sent you an invitation to the Parker's Auction Event. I was hoping you'd come." Carina wore a plastic smile but inwardly, she was dying to leave. She couldn't believe her dreams had crushed down the drain. She had underestimated Shark after all.

"I'm too old for that. Anyways good luck." Shark walked out on her deliberately. Carina mastered the courage she had left in her and scurried to her car.
