Chapter 32: A Complicated Curse

Willow

Try as she might, Willow could not reestablish her connection to her grandmother through meditation after Morgause’s interruption. She knew that if she went to the pond and meditated, she could be closer to her ancestors.

She tucked the grimoire under her cloak and headed out, glancing around to make sure that no one was watching her.

The sun was just setting over the trees turning the sky orange, purple, and pink.

Willow knelt at the edge of the pond, sand giving way to her knees and shifting, making her sink into the ground.

She lay the book out in front of her and opened to the page of the curse. It wasn’t a full moon, but the ancestors’ presence was still stronger by the pond. She didn’t need to contact them directly, but Willow wanted to draw on their knowledge to understand the curse.

Reaching into the pond, Willow cupped some water into the palm of her hand. She slowly poured the water onto the curse page.

“Reveal,” she whispered.
