Duke Arthur Gauthier felt when the ward went into effect. The feeling of Evelyn's magic was warm and left him feeling a safe buzz. He relaxed in his chair and stared into the fire. They were going to have a meeting in the morning about everything going on and their plan for Straider and Bros.
"Enter," he called out before there was a knock on his door.
Carl and Quincy made their way into their father's office. "Dad, did you feel that?" Carl asked.
"Yes," he replied without turning his attention from the fire.
The boys took a seat on the large leather couch. "What was that?" Quincy asked. "It almost felt like the magic we sensed the other night."
"You are correct, it was magic. Evelyn set up a ward to protect against dark magic. What you felt was that ward going in place," he explained.
"Dark magic?" Carl asked. "I thought you guys had driven out the last of the dark witches decades ago?"
