Chapter 66:Baldwin distress

Baldwin walked around the temple in distress. The recent events made him lack confidence. Despite him being a prince, he was worried for his father, whose condition right now was unknown to be alive or dead.

To add to that, there was an ambush at the rally that they planned for so long to complete successfully with little of casualties. During all of that, Baldwin wanted to return to his country as soon as possible.

But at the same time, he didn't want to leave August behind, during the time that Baldwin and August spent together they had some kind of bond, or at least that is what Baldwin felt.

Despite August being quite closed and not speaking much, he didn't show disgust or a lot of irritation to him. From time to time, when August was practising his sword, he also helped Baldwin from time, making small comments when Baldwin made mistakes.

Baldwin, on the other side, admired August for his sword mastery, it was his passion that he loved and seeing someone being better is like a wall that is much higher than your eyes could see, you will want to climb it to overcome yourself.

Being the prince of the country meant that Baldwin had to know a lot of things about various arts, including politics, etiquette, knowledge of science, and being proficient in fighting. But despite having a lot of edges in the various arts, his biggest passion was fighting on the sword, a passion that passed down from his father.

Baldwin walked from one hall to another, looking in the blank space, wondering about the things that might have happened in his kingdom. He was thinking of the worst outcome that he could imagine, his father being dead and nobles waiting for his return to take the throne. Thinking about that, he found that this was a wrong assumption and every time he wanted to return; he felt that it would be wrong to do without August since he was not just someone he admired, but at this point in time, he can let August be the one responsible for his life.

Before long, Baldwin arrived close to the room where Albert lived. When he was about to knock on the door, the door snapped open, revealing Albert. He stood there with a slightly frustrated face.

"What do you need?" inquired Albert

Baldwin lost coordination for a second, completely losing track of his thought and blankly stared at Albert with him in the position to knock on the door.

Getting no response Albert clicked his tongue and said slightly annoyed "First you got my brother in danger almost making him a breathless corpse, now you show up in front of me and just look me in the eyes without saying a word, what's wrong with you?"

Baldwin's face changed, first showing some regret, switching to the one that wanted to argue, but at the end admitting defeat with his head looking at the ground.

But it took a few seconds before Baldwin's eyes changed and burned with eagerness as he looked up towards Albert and said in an angry and frustrated tone, "Do you think I knew about that? Do you think that I wanted to be trapped in the stinky, giant cave with all of my loyal forces lying dead in front of my feet?

Let me tell you! I did not expect something of this calibre. There were too many things that went wrong and sorry for making you angry, child, but in life, there is nothing definite!

Do you ask what is wrong with me? There are a lot of things that are fucking wrong! I don't know where is my father. Is he alive or not? I don't know if my kingdom is even a one-piece at the moment! So sorry for being an ass, but this is just too much to fucking sustain without bursting out!"

Albert calmly looked at Baldwin, whose face was slightly red from the words he just said and his breath pattern is uneven from the frustration that he released in one nonstop sentence. Albert calmly inquired, putting a hand on Baldwin's shoulder, with some reassurance, "Calmed down yet?"

With a heavy sigh, Baldwin responded, "Yes"

"So what did you come here for?" inquired Albert

"Well," started Baldwin with a complicated face, forming a sentence in his mind, "I want your help" finished Baldwin.

With his eyes rolled back, Albert looked at Baldwin and inquired, "I already got that. What do you need exactly?"

Baldwin showed an awkward smile and said, "Can you spy for me?"

Without replying, Albert carefully looked at the man in front of him, seeing how his face changed emotions now and then before saying, "What is the pay?"

With his hands dropping down, Baldwin looked at Albert like a lost puppy. "I don't have money on me," replied Baldwin, before adding with his eyebrows rose "But I will pay handsomely when we get back to my kingdom!"

Rubbing his head Albert, thought for a second. August will be healing for another week or 2. He didn't really have much to do, and returning to Ban Ard didn't appeal to him, since most of the things that they study there at the moment don't really catch his attention.

Making a decision, he looked at Baldwin and nodded. "I will do that"

Baldwin showed a grateful smile and replied, "Thanks. I appreciate it a lot."

Waving his hand, Albert dismissed all the words and disappeared, leaving Baldwin standing in the hall alone.

With a sigh, Baldwin said aloud, "Well, this is awkward when he does that before saying anything to end the talk"

Holding complaints to himself, Baldwin made his way around the temple wondering about the things that might be happening in the Kovir and Povis.

Albert appeared in the Lan Exeter several miles away from the city and looked around, spotting nobody near.

Making his way towards the city, Albert started to hear faint noises coming from the city. The closer he came, the more definitive the noises became. When he finally could see the city close enough, he noticed one strange thing: closed gates.

The city was sealed, and nobody was let inside. This was quite strange for such a city like this. Kovir and Povis are, after all, the country that has the most amount of various metals on all continent. So gates being sealed meant that there is something big happening inside of the city.

Seeing no other way out, Albert used Magic to appear on the wall of the city, while also staying unnoticed by the guard that was there.

As soon as he did, he saw a lot of people on the streets of the city with sorrowful expressions on their faces, carrying candles in their hands, while also a lot of people that were there shedding their tears and praying to their gods.

This almost instantly caught Albert's attention, and he went further to uncover the reason behind all of this.

Hey, it is an author here, I have an idea for the next kind of small arc for the witcher work.

What do you think about taking Cinderella as an idea and remaking it in different dark colours for the witcher world? There will be monster, there will be a love story,m strategy and salvation. Love and hate etc.

Other than this support the story and drop me your power stone, I want some rocks falling on my head.

Thanks.

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
