Chapter 2, Sundale High

I went to sleep at 1am and I woke up in my room early the next day — 5am. When I opened the door to my room, I saw all my new friends already awake, either reading or taking a shower. I decided to do some pull-ups and take a cold shower to wake me up in the morning. After the refreshing shower, I put on my robes and all of us went downstairs to the smell of fresh pancakes and soufflés. We all sat at the long oak dining table, each chair already had our names carved on the seat in a similar font as the one on our robes. We were all wearing robes, except for aunt Kelly. She wore a black dress ready for the day. Since we are all werewolves: me an alpha, Ace and Samantha are both zetas, and aunt Kelly, Tyler, Allison, Cheryl are all betas, And finally Jake and omega (the lowest in wolf terms). We ate a lot. After ten plates of towering pancakes and 3 soufflés, I was finally full.

After I dressed I called my mom saying I was too tired yesterday to call, she wished me a good long happy life there and said she'll visit in the summer. I hung up and got to the garage. We all got in either my Jeep or Tyler's Mercedes at about 7:30am. Again, I followed Tyler to the school, Sundale high. We are all starting our sophomore year, and I was obviously the new kid. So as we drove in the parking lot, people stared at the Jeep and the tinted windows, trying to see who's inside. I parked next to Tyler and the four of us got out of the Jeep and joined Tyler. We walked to our lockers (all next to each other) and opened it. Inside each of our lockers was black Louis Vuitton backpacks, custom-made with our names printed on it (with the same font on the robes and chair).

We took our bags and entered the same classroom and sat down next to each other. Ace explained to me that Mrs Jackson, aka my aunt Kelly, paid the school to put us all in the same class and let us sit together and put our lockers next to each other. The class was science and eventually there were no more empty seats and the teacher gave a warm welcome. "To those who came last year, welcome back, and to those who just came here to Sundale high, Welcome." Mr McDermott said with a warm smile. He has jet black messy hair and goatee. He wore a white button-up shirt with long sleeves and no tie. Moreover, he wore beige trousers with a black belt, his socks are white, and his shoes are coated in a shiny leather material.

He started the class with an ice-breaker game which is, I'm pretty sure, either boring or awkward for everyone. When the game ended, we started observing onion root cells. I did this before, last year I was put in an advanced science class. I worked with Ace, Tyler worked with Jake and Samantha, Cheryl and Allison worked together. We wanted to work together, but that wasn't the only reason why we worked together. I quickly learned that the other reason is people avoid us because they think we are freaks, or they're too afraid of us. Eventually we finished the class and walked to the next class: English. After that, we have Spanish.

We all finished at the same time and walked out of class early. We were leaning against our lockers when the whole American Football team walked by, they were all seniors, and they thought they would pick on a few sophomore students. Although there are only 7 of us, we can take them. 11 seniors vs 7 sophomore. They started by 'accidentally' throwing a ball to my face but, as usual, I caught the ball and flattened it in one hand and threw it back. They were angry that I did that, but I wasn't afraid, nor was the rest of the pack. Not only that, but they made a semi-circle around us, then grabbed Allison's wrist. I looked towards Ace, Tyler, Jake, Cheryl, and Samantha grinning. They did the same and got into a defending position.

Allison elbowed the football player that grabbed her in the ribs. They tried to fight us, but we beat easily: Two tried to grab me by the arms, but I punched them right in the nose. Cheryl kicked one in the chest, and he flew in the opposite direction. Ace and Tyler did the Counter Execution Slash — Ace punched the 'targets' in their faces as Tyler kicked their ankles.

By then, the rest of the school saw the fight and avoided us ever more than at the beginning of the day. We left our bags in the lockers and finally walked to lunch, knowing the American football team isn't going to let us get away so easily, but all we could do right now was to smile and laugh.

We finished lunch and went back to hang out against our lockers. Allison and Cheryl practiced Spanish while Ace, Tyler and I played soccer. Jake and Samantha went to buy our drinks from the vending machine in the cafeteria. I was winning the keep-it-up game when I suddenly heard two voices calling my name. It was Jake and Samantha, they were thinking my name furiously and repeatedly in their head. And yes, I can read their minds but only because their part of my pack, and I'm the alpha. "Guys, c'mon, let's go," I said in a strong voice, "Jake and Samantha are surrounded by the football team, and we can't afford to make them shift in front of the whole school just to protect themselves."

We ran towards the double doors, and with one push it busted open. The whole cafeteria was staring at us and the football team. As soon as the American football team saw us in our defensive position, they left hurriedly as if nothing happened, in fear no doubt.

The crowd immediately went back to what they were doing in fear of what we might do. We ran towards Jake and Samantha and asked them, "Are you guys okay?" Samantha nodded, but when Jake finally lifted his hand off is face, I understood why Samantha looked so worried. "I got a good punch on the team captain's face after he did that to Jake." Samantha said in an apologetic tone. Jake has a black eye and a bleeding nose.

"Jake's going to be fine," I said as I examined him, "we all heal quicker than human, so that means he'll be back to normal today. But for the next couple of days he would need to wear make up to convince people he hasn't healed yet."

"Allison, Cheryl and I could do the makeup for him" Samantha said, and gave both Allison and Cheryl a glance. As they nodded in agreement, I told them, "We better get to class before we are late."

Our last class is PE. We played dodgeball, and none of the pack got hit, and where the lasts standing in our team. The humans in the losing team all gave us dirty looks, but when they were caught, they acted as if they didn't do anything. The class ended after the game, and my team cheered and whooped as they walked through the double doors.

We laughed and talked as we walked to our cars. On the windshield of my jeep was a black envelope with the words: We are coming for you, all of you. I opened the envelope as the rest of them watched. Inside the envelope, are black and white pictures of me in New York and pictures of Jake, Samantha, Allison, Ace, Tyler, and Cheryl hanging out in the Midnight roast. We gave each other a look with creased eyebrow. "Now we need to stick together no matter what. You saw what could've happened if we split up. We could shift in front of them," I informed them, "Jake, Cheryl and Allison, on the next full moon I'm going to try to teach you how you control yourselves."

"Wait, guys, do you smell that?" Samantha said, twitching her nose.

"Yeah, something is…. Rotting."

"And there's also blood? "

"There isn't there?" said Ace, suddenly catching the scent. Then the smallest picture of A girl in our class fell out from the envelope.

Ace, Samantha, and I traced the scent while the others followed — wrinkling their nose. When we finally reached where the scent is coming from, the there's nothing. Sorry, let me rephrase that, nothing yet. I decided that it's — whatever it is — is buried. So with that we went to the school greenhouse, took the shovels, ran back and started to dig. A couple of minutes later, we found something. A girl in our first class, laid there, with a strong stench. She was pale as a ghost, still as a statue, with bruises on her legs, scratch marks on her face, blood in her tangled blonde hair. Then I noticed her teeth, four fangs, that means she WAS a werewolf.

The mysterious werewolf hunter/ killer was dangerous. Abruptly, we heard footsteps. I howled to let them know we are werewolves and at peace. The dead girl's alpha listened to us, and told his pack that they are running to Argentina, the farthest state from Sundale. After they disappeared, Allison asked, "what are we going to do?"

I simply replied, "We fight back."
