The wolf's cry alarmed David. He looked at the man who had tortured him. That man's also seemed restless because of the wolves. The howls of wolves sounded as though they were closed by, thus David didn't waste any time. He opened the man's mouth and shoved the liquid in his mouth. He then started praying to any god out there to heal the man as soon as they can.
David was not afraid of death. He was afraid of the consequences of death. He knew that he would travel back in time as soon as he was killed. But traveling back in time would not do him any good. The last save point he had was from the time when he returned from the exam unharmed. And going back in that time was pretty much useless to him.
