After Jun Ning climbed out of the dog hole, she patted the dust off her body and turned to look back at the hole.
"I don't know how long these people will spend searching the palace. I can't just keep waiting here."
"No, I have to find something to do. They'll probably be done by the time I'm done with my work. "
"But what should I do?"
Jun Ning cocked her head and thought for a while. Then, she ran towards the imperial kitchen like a hungry ghost.
She did not even need to think about what to do next.
As a glutton, she only had one thing to pursue.
Very soon, Jun Ning was walking out of the imperial kitchen with a fresh piece of roasted chicken.
Ever since she had been caught stealing food from the imperial kitchen, she had not eaten there anymore.
She had learned to be smarter. She would run out quickly after stealing and find a safe place to slowly taste and digest the food.
This time, she ran to a secluded corner of the imperial garden, holding the roast chicken. She tore off a chicken leg and got ready to eat.
Suddenly, she heard a very low but undisguisable sobbing sound.
The person sounded very aggrieved, uncomfortable, and in pain.
However, the person who was crying seemed to be trying his best to control his emotions, not daring to make too much noise.
"Who's there?"
Jun Ning put down the chicken leg and looked warily at the source of the sound.
Not far away, there was a rock cave. A small figure was squatting at the mouth of the cave. He was hugging his knees and his shoulders were shaking. He was obviously crying.
He looked a little pitiful.
Jun Ning stood up and walked towards the figure.
However, when the figure heard her approach, he quickly wiped his tears and stood up. He took a few steps back alertly and said to Jun Ning, who was walking towards him, "Who sent you? Stay away from me. Don't come any closer."
As soon as he finished speaking, his stomach growled and the sound echoed through the empty cave.
It echoed again and again.
It echoed for a very long time.
Jun Ning was sure that it was not her stomach that was growling. It must be coming from the little guy who was not far away from her.
This little brat looked to be about the same age as her, but he was dressed like a dog. There was also a valuable jade pendant hanging from his waist. He was clearly someone important, but he was definitely not a prince.
Jun Ning could not figure out how a person like him had ended up like this.
Jun Ning heaved a deep sigh. She went back to her hiding spot and grabbed the chicken she had stolen.
"Hey, if you call me 'boss', I'll give you half of my chicken..."
The little boy wiped his tears and looked at Jun Ning's body with a stubborn expression. Confused, he asked, "You want to share half your balls with me?"
He... He did not have that sort of hobby.
"I don't want it, you keep it!"
Jun Ning was speechless. Jun Ning quickly pulled her legs together and said with a dark expression, "W-w-what are you thinking about? I'm talking about the roast chicken I'm holding."
"Roast chicken?" Where was it?
"I'm talking about this!" Jun Ning held up the roast chicken and shook it. "Take a look."
The little guy had missed this earlier. Now, he could see what Jun Ning was holding and he could even smell the faint fragrance coming off it.
His stomach growled loudly again, and he could not help but swallow.
Jun Ning stepped forward and placed the chicken leg she had just torn off in front of the little boy's mouth. "Don't you want to eat?"
