"Why would you take Dion there? Do you have the slightest idea how dangerous it could have been?" I snapped at Dem. 

"You handled it just fine by the time I reached," he said and put Dion in his crib. 

"Dem, it could have been dangerous! Why don't you understand?" 

He now looked at me with his black eye. He was angry, really angry. He bit the side of his lip as if in frustration and ran his fingers through his hair. 

"You left in the middle of the night without explaining anything. You did not care how much worried I was. You did not care about your safety when you left," he said in a controlled tone, putting emphasis on each of his words. 

"Why would I worry about myself when I knew I would do just fine?"

"Yes, then what is wrong with me taking Dion there if you were so sure of your ability?"
