The Wendigo Inn

Van Thomas has just inherited a house from his late grandparents in the countryside and has moved into it--only to realize the house is a rather popular resort that serves all kinds of customers all year round. As the owner and manager of the building, he realizes that the inn caters to an unusual clientele, and has an even more unique staff. His secretary is named Daji. A pirate named Waverly Leviathan with resemblance to Poseidon often stays. Daji's nephew often stays and calls himself Sun Wukong. A novelist and screenwriter, Athena, is working on a masterpiece. Then there's the CEO named Odin and his twin sons named Loki. Could these mythological connections be more than coincidence?

Chapter 41: Slip Past the Sea God

No one in the hotel knows that I'm cooperating with the Mythical Cops ... which makes life uncomfortable for me right now.

Waverly's bulk blocks me in my own hotel hallway. He smells of pool water, sardines, and kelp. His eyes glitter, and he looks at me like I'm a bottom-feeding shellfish.

"I'm innocent," I protest.

Waverly snorts. "You expect me to believe that fish story?"

Daji clings to my arm. "Stow it, Neptune."

"I hate the Roman name," Waverly growls.

"I know. Now, step aside or I'll claw you so hard you won't be able to swim for a week or more while your wounds heal," Daji hisses.

Waverly plants his feet squarely, shaking the floor. He's huge. I had no idea Poseidon was such a giant. "Where is my trident?"

I hold up my hands. "I didn't steal it."
