Chapter Fifty-Three Fire and Ice

When I received permission to land and learned there were no ill wills between us and this King. It was exciting to see one of my siblings who had been hidden by our parents. It was my great fortune to be hidden with the Aurelian golden dragon clan as the eldest of my siblings. During my mother's lifetime, she ensured that her DNA was kept in the national blood database. As a result, when the child becomes curious about who they are, their DNA can be tested so they at least know what kind of dragon they are. I was certain that he would be safe, since my parents would never hide them in a dangerous clan.

The moment I landed, I noticed Pyronis was currently in a really bad mood. A sundress is handed to me by Pyronis, and I throw it over my head, putting my arms through the straps of the dress, and then I start to put it on.My favorite flower is the daisy, and this dress seems to be made out of sunshine with daisies adorning it.

I placed my hands on either side of Pyronis's face and asked softly, "What is wrong, my love?"

Pyronis replies begrudgingly, "I won't say anything, you'll see once we walk in."

As I nodded, I could not imagine what was upsetting Pyronis so much. It was evident from his clenched hands and furrowed brow that he was distraught. It seemed like he wanted reassurance about something, as his hand grabbed mine. Upon arriving at the castle, we were greeted by servants who opened the door and directed us to a large elegant conference room on the first floor.

The slightest hint of daisies filled the air as I walked along the wooden floor towards the open conference room doorway. It seemed strange to me that winter dragons would have daisies here where there is nothing but ice and snow.

When I was contemplating Pyronis and I's dating relationship, I thought it had been four years. My 18th birthday was just a few days ago. The age of Pyronis is twenty.

As Pyronis has been bugging me, he wants us to become chosen mates instead of true mates. Upon turning eighteen, the age at which I can choose my mate, I told him I would choose him.

Clearly, he expects me to marry him, even calling me his fiance defensively to any would-be suitors.

It is clear to me that I am uncomfortable with the thought of being paired with a chosen partner. Often, couples believe that they will not find their true mate and choose a chosen mate, only for this to turn out horribly when one of them does find their true mate.

If a dragon rejects his or her true mate without just cause, then the gods will take the dragon from you, and you will no longer be the person you once were. There are many people who lose their dragons and go crazy or kill themselves as a result. It could be dangerous if we embark on this journey between Pyronis and me.

We are being welcomed to the dragon winter clan by the King and Queen, who are standing at the door with great excitement in their eyes as they look forward to meeting us and allowing Gandor to meet us as well.

We were directed to sit at this very long table by a hand motion. Sitting facing the door, I took a seat. It was taught me in defence classes never to have one's back to an attack. Also, you should keep your eyes on the door at all times.

As soon as Pyronis sits down, he places his hand on mine on the table as if he is about to lose me. My hand is squeezed and I turn to give him a smile as I look up, giving him reassurance that all is well. Sadly, Pyronis seems unconvinced by my smile.

A young man running in first looked like my twin, but he was much, much younger. He stared at me in awe. We both know we are related just by looking at each other.People do not realize that sun dragon children look like twins, even though they are varying ages, something unique to the species. There will be a striking similarity between me and all my siblings.

I guess this is the child they call Gandor. I smile at him while he takes a seat next to the King and Queen. I guess he is shy to sit near me.

I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard a loud roar followed by the most delicious scent of daisies, and my mouth dropped, forgetting that Pyronis was holding my hand in front of a very confrontational mate. When the king yells for me to let go of Pryonis' hand, I am suddenly shaken out of my trance, taking my hand out of Pyronis's right away.

The man before me was the most handsome man I had ever seen in my life. His face had a strong muscular jaw, his eyes deep Cyrillan blue gems that angered the sky due to their beauty. His hair was silver like a precious metal that shone against the likes of the moon. He was at least 6'4, and I was in trouble now, as this I realized was my true mate. I was at a loss for words, as this beautiful specimen sat next to me. While both he and Cyrillian continued to growl at one another.

Introducing himself as Cadma, this gorgeous man sits on my left side next to me.My panic level has now reached an all-time high.Which course of action should I take?Pyronis was upset for a reason now that I understand. It must have been obvious to him.

The scent of daisies was so thick in the air that I sneezed. I was wondering what I smelled like to him. As if he could read my mind, he stated that I smelled like marshmallows made into smores. So to him I am yummy and he would like to eat me, and I can't get enough of his scent. Great, we are a pair. I get my energy from the sun, and him from the snow. I am fire and he is ice. What were the Gods thinking when they made the two of us true mates?
