Chapter 8

Mason smiled against my cheek " Maybe I need to jog your memory" Mason lowered his hand to my waist and pulled me closer to him.

" Maybe you should." I bit my lips to stifle a grin, while his hand roamed everywhere, on my waist, tummy, and bottom unable to keep still.

Mason tugged on my hair, to bring my lips to his, and trusted so hard that it knocked the wind out of my lungs. I came the very same instant and moaned in the passionate kiss that we were sharing.

Hands up on the wall, Mason gripped my hips, tugging on my hair, and let himself go, thrusting his hips so hard that I could barely have a proper breath in-between the loud mewls that came out of me. A different kind of pleasure coursed through me, primal, unhinged, wild as he was. My knees buckled when another wave of pleasure washed over me and my hands slipped off the wall. Mason stilled and collapsed on my back, breathless as I was. We both slid down on the floor, and Mason pulled me into his arms. I was reeling, gasping for breath, my body tingled from head to toe, the rush of the high was addictive. He was my drug.

We sat on the floor under the stream of water, for the longest time, hugging each other. My mind was blank except for one thing. Mason was the bane of my existence. I wanted him even though he was bad for me. I opened my eyes to look up at him and wearily smiled.

" We should get to bed," Mason glanced at his watch, frowning " It's late" He worriedly said and my eyes drifted to the watch as well. It showed four in the morning.

He stood up with me in tow and sat under the stream, rubbing himself and me before he turned off the tap and stepped out of the shower. It was late. I would be awake in one hour and a half.

Mason pulled the bathrobe from the hook and lowered me to the floor, and grabbed a towel, wrapping himself in it. We had our first shower together. A hot and steamy one at that.

When we reached the bed, Mason tugged on the covers and straightened them, and I slipped under them without him asking. I frowned when he slipped next to me and pulled me into his arms but I knew by morning he would be gone.

I snuggled closer to him basking in the short-lived warmth, grinning ear to ear, like an idiot. I had every reason to. On a cloud of happiness, I slowly drifted to sleep.

I languidly opened my eyes and blinked a few times to chase away the sleep. I looked out the window, the orange summer sky right before the sunrise filled my view and for once I didn't feel at odds with myself. Whatever would come my way, I would take it head-on. I pushed myself off the bed feeling better than ever and threw a glance around the room. If Mason wanted me to stay, those very words would have to come off his lips. I wanted him to admit that there was more, that he wanted more. I held the good cards, just had to play them right. I grinned at that analogy.

After throwing a few more things into the boxes, I pulled on a pair of jeans, but quickly shed them off when the discomfort between my legs made it difficult to walk.

A busy day was waiting for me at the soup kitchen and I needed to be able to move freely. I pulled on a pair of shorts, a bra and a t-shirt.

Throwing one last glance in the mirror to check that everything was in the right place. I picked a jacket on my way out the door but halted when my eyes caught sight of a note on the top of a white box.

I picked up the note " Remember to take this" the note said making me glance at the box. When I opened it, it had a pill in it. I frowned at the pill trying to figure out what was it for. For some odd reason, Enid's words rang in my head about baby-proofing the house and I swallowed the pill without a second thought.

Feeling relieved that a catastrophe had been averted, I carried on and got out of the room. I was starving and it was my turn to cook breakfast.

It was still early, so I had a little extra time to get everything ready for breakfast. I knew Mason had worked up an appetite and so did I. Rummaging through the cupboards and then the fridge. I pulled out everything that I could find that could be made into a meal. My hunger was the sole drive behind me going on a cooking spree.

By the time I was done cooking breakfast, I looked at the table and frightened myself. I had made fruit salad, pancakes, bacon, sausages, eggs, croissants, and toast. Enough food to feed a family of ten, not three. I just hoped that Enid wouldn't think too much of it.

I glanced at the clock it was almost half past six.

I poured myself a cup of coffee and sat at the table drooling over the food. It was calling to me. My stomach rumbled, loud, and I reached for a slice of bacon.

" Good morning, Miss Abernathy, " Mason walked in at the moment I put the bacon in my mouth. I froze and took it out, and frowned at his timing. The absolute worst.

" Good morning, " I straightened myself up in the chair and put the bacon back on the plate.

Mason poured himself a cup of coffee and sat at the table, looking over the food that took all the space on the table.

" Hungry?" Mason asked, amusement laced his tone, as the corner of his mouth subtly quirked up. I had only seen him do that once outside the bedroom.

I hummed " Yes," I said, smiling and picked up my cup of coffee to hide it when it grew wider.

He fell silent, and picked his coffee, most likely to do the same. I couldn't see, because his cup was the size of a small bucket.
