Chapter 30 John's Previous Life

The next morning, John woke up early. Maggie and Amy were still sleeping in bed, Sarah was quietly laying there, looking at John. John saw that she was awake, so he picked her up.

Holding her, John began to think about what he was going to do with her. As he thought about her situation, he walked out of the room and went downstairs.

John sat on the couch as he watched Sarah play with a doll. She was smiling happily, and this made John smile as well. He was truly affected by what he saw yesterday. He started to think about his previous life.

In his previous life he had been an elite soldier, top of the line. The highest quality of soldier, bordering on superhuman. John had been all over the world and he had seen many tragic scenes.

But he had never seen something so cruel, and this would be shocking to other people, because John had been on many missions and had seen the destruction caused by very evil men.

Kids who had been mutilated, missing an arm or leg. He had seen woman raped in the street as he was scouting the area of his target.

John's missions had mainly been to kill warlords. Men who would do anything to gain power, be that through butchering any number of humans. Men, women, and children, but he had never seen them be thrown into a room and left to rot.

They had been burned and only their bones were left to be witnessed.

John remembers about all the things he has seen, and it used to bring him to tears and give him nightmares every night. Knowing that men could be so cruel, that for power they would do anything.

John had always felt a sense of accomplishment that he was ridding the world of evil men. The thought that he was bringing justice to others, made him think less about the horrors he had witnessed.

For a long time, he had thought that humanity was evil. To be able to create such evil men, but he thought about how each of these men, may have also been the victims once. That their trauma had caused them to become this way.

John made it his goal in life to kill anyone who would continue this cycle. He made an organization, a group of people that helped him clean up the world. While also helping any victims of these evil men the tools to ensure their future.

He had created facilities that would help kids work through their trauma and teach them to become great men and women of the future.

But people high up in the government grew weary of John. They created scandals that he was raising an army to concur the world and that he was raising orphan of war to become soldiers. This caused the world to turn against John.

This scandal had caused the beginning of World War VII. The war lasted for many years, 6 to be exact. The war was one of the deadliest in the history of mankind, millions of people had fought and died in it. Countless years of bloodshed, before John finally won, finally convincing the world of his innocence.

John had managed to change the world and erase these corrupt official and their organizations, but in the final moments of their life. They decided to take John out with them so he could never witness the world he remade. So that he would never witness his success, created from all the effort and time he had spent.

They managed to put a bomb in his private jet and there was no way for John to escape death, not this time.

John now 37 years old when he died, having fought, tooth and nail for change. John had succeeded but he never got to witness the change he had brought to the world.

In the history books, John was glorified as the greatest man to have ever lived. A man who had seen the evil in the world and decided to fight for change. Even when the whole world had turned against him, he had never blamed anyone, as he knew it was not the work of the populace. It was the doing of the evil men and women who sit in their ivory towers and watch the world burn while they benefit from it.

Making money from the misery of others, uncaring for the wellbeing of anyone but themselves.

The day he died in his jet; the entire world had mourned for his loss. The man who had been framed, named an abomination, and a man of true evil. When in reality, he had been one of the most righteous men ever born.

The people of the world had built a stature of him, cast of pure gold to signify his glory. The names of every man who fought in this war of good and evil, light and darkness, were carved into the base of this statue.

John was brought out his thoughts by Sarah, she was shaking his hand and looking at him with a pure and innocent smile. Seeing this John knew there was still hope for this world and all that was left was for John to fight. To use the gifts, he had received from God to fix this world as well and eliminate all the evil men and women.

Sarah looked at John smiling at him, she said, "Play. Daddy." At this moment John knew what he had to do. He was going to raise Sarah as his own daughter and care for her. She was too sweet and innocent for him to let anything happen to her.

John saw that she was playing with her doll, so he picked up a little dog toy and began to play with her. Pretending they were going on an adventure and saving the world.

A while later, Maggie and Amy came down the stairs, and what they saw made them happy. Seeing John play so calmly and patiently with Sarah, they knew he would be a great father. Amy and Maggie looked at each other, it seems they were thinking the same thing. They then walked over to John and Sarah and played with the little girl as well.

When breakfast was done, and the smell of eggs was in the air. John and his family joined the rest of the group in the dining room. Eating breakfast and enjoying the atmosphere, John felt that his goal in this life was now set, and he would fight his hardest for anyone he held dear, so that they could see a brighter tomorrow.
