Chapter 20

Ray stepped into his new home, a mix of emotions washing over him. The previous dungeon outbreak had taken everything he held dear, but now he had a chance to rebuild. The scent of fresh paint and the comforting warmth of a home welcomed him as he entered.

"Ray, you're finally here!" Sarah exclaimed, rushing forward to embrace her son. Lily followed suit, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"It's good to be home," Ray said with a grateful smile. "So, this is our new home?"

"Yes, the hunter's association made sure the government guaranteed us a new home after your heroic achievements" Sarah explained.

"Thank God we don't have to buy a new home" Ray laughed.

"True" Lily giggled agreeing.

"I have something important to tell you both."

Sarah's brow furrowed with concern. "What is it, Ray? You look serious."

Ray took a deep breath, steadying himself. "I have just finished my hunter inauguration, I'm now a D rank hunter."

Sarah gasped, her worry slowly transformed into a mixture of pride and concern. "I understand your desire to protect, but promise me you'll prioritize your safety, Ray. You mean everything to us."

Ray hugged his mother tightly. "I promise, Mom. I'll be careful and make sure to come back home to you and Lily."

"Yay big brother is a hunter!" Lily giggled.

As they settled into their new home, Ray turned on the television, eager to learn about the aftermath of the recent dungeon outbreaks. The news anchor's voice filled the room, recounting the scale of the destruction and the courageous efforts of the hunters.

"The city is slowly recovering from the five simultaneous dungeon outbreaks," the news anchor reported solemnly. "Our brave hunters, armed with their skills and determination, have been at the forefront of the recovery efforts."

Ray listened intently as the news anchor praised various hunter teams that had played a pivotal role in combating the monsters and aiding the affected citizens. The Silver Fangs, a renowned C-rank team known for their tactical brilliance, were lauded for their coordinated assaults on the dungeons. The Crimson Blades, a C-rank team, were commended for their quick response and efficient rescue operations. And the Stormborn Sentinels, another D-rank team, were hailed for their unwavering dedication and heroism.

The mention of these remarkable teams sparked a fire within Ray. The Silver Fangs were really amazing he thought.

As the news continued, Ray shared his thoughts with his family. "I want to become a hunter who can make a difference, just like those teams mentioned. I want to learn from the best and be a source of hope for others. So I will be joining the Silver Fangs very soon."

Sarah's eyes glistened with a mix of concern and pride. "Ray, follow your heart and your passion. We'll support you every step of the way, no matter the challenges you face."

Lily chimed in, her voice filled with innocence and admiration. "Big brother, I believe in you. You're my hero!"

Ray smiled as he thanked his mother and hugged his sister tight before leaving and going into his own room.

He was now officially a hunter with awakened abilities. He hadn't had much time to think about this as he was constantly in fights but he was now a strong person with the potential and desire to be stronger.

Hunters had essentially no ceiling on the amount of money they could earn different from normal unawakened people who had to earn a wage. This meant, he could potentially do missions for a single week, pay off his family's debt, pay the hunter decommission fee and retire early, though by that point he would be an A rank hunter. Those legendary beings who very few can match.

Obviously Ray had no desire of being a hunter purely for financial reasons, once his family was set, he wanted to pursue becoming the strongest thing in the world and to do that, he would need to be in a hunters group until he was strong enough to go solo in higher tiered dungeons.

Grabbing his phone and Amelia's business card before entering her number into his phone.

It rang slowly.

It eventually answered.

"Hello? This is Amelia from the Silver Fangs." The voice declared.

"Good afternoon, Amelia, it's Ray Obsidian, you gave me your business card to join your hunter team" Ray responded.
