When He Knew the Truth

Helena tightened her grip on Ethan's arm to reassure her husband. Ethan didn't like appearing weak, but he knew he needed Helena's support right now.

Diana felt compassion for the married couple before her. She felt that their short reunion might end soon if the problems escalated. It was the worst-case scenario for the elderly woman.

"Lord Gabriel took you in with the hope of raising you and harnessing your power," Diana said with a genuine smile, caressing Ethan with her gaze. "You're a good person... fundamentally good. That's why he thought your power might control you as the prophecy says."

Diana chuckled bitterly as she stopped telling the story. "Lord Gabriel suspected Helena at first because she was known to be very strong and ambitious. But, after we personally met Helena, that wasn't the issue," Diana said with a weak smile, her shoulders slumping.
