Chapter Fourteen

Chapter fourteen:

"Your Majesty!"

All of sudden a cry cut through the tension in the room as a physician ran into the court.  He quickly went to the middle of the room before collapsing on the ground in a bowing position.  Gasping for air he tried to calm down and speak.

"I found the princess in the physician corridor!" He finally gasped out as soon as he was able to.

A sensation ran through the crowd as everyone stared unblinkingly at the physician. The true nature of the situation was about to be revealed!

"And? Was the prince with her? Are they ok?" The emperor asked anxiously. He couldn't help but sit up in his chair as he awaited the answer.

The physician shook under the pressure of the emperor's eyes however, he still faithfully answered.

"This servant failed his duties and did not check on the princess due to excitement. As for the prince..." the physician looked around nervously. "I did not see him, but there was a mummified body in the room."

Gasps echoed throughout the room as everyone took in the physician words. The princess didn't just kill Prince Feng, but also mummified him! What kind of psycho would do that!

The emperor's mustache shook in rage as he stood up from his throne. "Take me to the princess."

"Yes your majesty!" The physician swiftly got up and turned around with the emperor and multiple court officials in tow.

When they got to the room in the physician corridors it was exactly what the physician described. Princess Meng was sprawled in a chair with blood on her face while a mummy laid on the bed.

The emperor motioned for the physician to check on both bodies. Thus, the physician stepped forward with the feeling of an axe being held firmly over his head. He first went to Princess Meng and checked her pulse before nodding to the emperor.

Then he slowly walked to the mummy in the middle of the room. He reached for the mummy's wrist to feel his pulse.... Everyone breathed in deeply as the physician's eyebrows crinkled up.

Releasing the arm, he turned toward the emperor.

"This person is alive!"  The physician didn't want to risk saying Prince Feng without full confirmation, therefore afterwards he started unwrapping the face.

When the beautiful features were revealed the tension in the room finally collapsed as everyone relaxed and the emperor's mustache stopped shaking.

"Make sure Prince Feng is ok, I heard he got hurt in the dungeons. Maids carry Meng to her room." The emperor glanced over one more time in annoyance before leaving the room. "When they are awake send them to my study." He said without turning back.

Everyone shared the common thoughts that Princess Meng officially fell out of the emperor's favor. After all, when the emperor learned she was fine, he didn't even show the slightest amount of care.

Those who didn't like her grinned in delight thinking how they will avenge their grievances now that the Meng no longer had the emperor backing her. Her standing in the minds of many court officials was extremely low and it probably wouldn't be long before Princess Meng disappeared forever.

Once everyone left, the court physician went to check on Feng Qi's injuries. Unwrapping his chest the physician gasped in surprise when he saw the stitches. Though they started off looking like they were done by someone inexperienced by the end were utterly perfect making it so that the scar was barely there already in that area.

The physician had never seen such perfect stitching skills and a terrifying thought entered his head. Did Princess Meng do this after all she was the only one in the room....

However, quickly he's shook off that idea. It was probably a physician he hasn't met yet, after all Princess Meng was only a useless brat who only knew how to cause trouble it's impossible for it to be her. The physician laughed at his stupid thoughts before continuing to check Feng Qi's other injuries.
