662. Confronting Louis
Mauve turned her head to Jael. "Why would I do that?" she asked. "It could be important."
"It's not, It is Louis," he replied.
"All the more reason why we should answer the door. Louis isn't one to bother without reason," Mauve said.
"There is no reason why he should be here," Jael said.
"That's not for you to say. If I was really asleep for that long, I'm sure he is here because he's worried," Mauve tried to convince Jael.
He shrugged but didn't say anything.
"If you aren't going to let him in, I will do it myself."
"Don't," Jael said, placing his palm on her to hold her down. "I will let him in myself."
She narrowed her eyes at him and nodded. Jael let out a loud sigh before getting out of bed. He took his time walking to the door; it was almost painful to watch. Before he could get to the door, Louis knocked two more times. Halfway through the third knock, Jael pulled the door open.
