504. Notice My Absence
Mauve woke up with a jerk. She frowned as she realized she was in bed alone. She sat upright immediately, looking around as she searched for Jael.
The room was dark so it was a bit hard to see. The curtains were still drawn but she could tell it was already nighttime.
A candle was turned on but it was on the bedside table and it was only bright enough to illuminate her side of the bed.
She yawned slightly, wondering when Jael left. She couldn't tell if he had been away for long.
She yawned again and slid out of the bed. She might as well get dressed early. She still felt a little sleepy but it was nothing a little warm water couldn't take care of.
"What are you doing?" Jael asked as she reached the connecting door, ready to open it.
"Ahhh!" She yelled, jumping in fright, and looked in the direction of where his voice was coming from. "You're here."
"Apparently," he replied, adjusting on the sofa.
