"What is the meaning of this?" The physician yelled. "Put me down this instant!" He yelled and tried to wiggle out of Damon's grip but the vampire held him tight.
"Are these all the things you intend to bring along?" Damon asked and pointed to the bags on the horse.
"Yes," the physician said. He had stopped struggling at this point.
Without saying a word to Zane, the vampire moved toward the horse and took the bags off it.
"Surely, you don't intend to carry him like this all the way there." His wife asked with tears in her eyes.
Damon stared hard at her, "I intend to do exactly that."
"Wouldn't it be better to use the horse?"
"No," Damon said stiffly. "I am faster than a horse and once it gets dark you won't be able to see a thing. You and your horse will fall into a ditch."
Damon took off and Zane followed after him.
"Jean!" His wife cried out.
