Under typical circumstances, Cheng Yi wouldn't take on two cases simultaneously unless one had hit a bottleneck or was waiting for a lengthy reaction process. He paused for a moment before continuing, "But now the situation has changed."

"Can you just finish what you're saying without gasping for breath?" Luo Xiuwen interjected playfully.

Cheng Yi turned his gaze to Jian Yiling and explained, "Because Sister Yiling is here, the situation has shifted."

Jian Yiling looked up, curiosity evident in her eyes. Cheng Yi continued with a grin, "The case I'm currently working on is likely to conclude sooner than expected with your help. So, I might take on this new case in just a few days."

Although Jian Yiling hadn't officially started at the research institute yet, she had been communicating with the team, with Cheng Yi being the person she interacted with the most. Ninety-nine percent of their discussions revolved around the research projects Cheng Yi was handling. Jian Yiling had provided many suggestions and insights, and Cheng Yi had greatly benefited from her expertise.

With her thoughts refocused, Jian Yiling returned her attention to her computer screen. According to the original plotline, Qin Chuan would inevitably return to the Qin family and become a sworn enemy of Zhai Yunsheng. If the storyline remained unchanged, Zhai Yunsheng, as the original antagonist, was likely to face a grim fate, though Jian Yiling wasn't certain if it would result in death or another outcome. However, it was unlikely to be anything favorable.

Despite Zhai Yunsheng's role as a villain, Jian Yiling remembered the help he had extended to her. Regardless of his motives, he had indeed aided her several times. She looked up again and said to Cheng Yi, "I'll assist you with the old case; we can take on the new one together."

Cheng Yi pondered for a moment, then replied, "If you're helping me, I'm sure there won't be any issues with taking on the new case. But, Yiling, you mentioned you have other commitments this month, right? Don't overburden yourself."

"I'm fine," Jian Yiling assured him, determined to manage her time effectively.

Luo Xiuwen, overhearing their conversation, chimed in quickly, "Yiling, listen to me. You're still young. Some boys might sweet-talk you, but you mustn't be swayed by their charms. Those who look good on the outside might turn out to be something else entirely! Don't let yourself be fooled!"

Luo Xiuwen's concern stemmed from her worry that Jian Yiling might develop a crush on her so-called "tutor." As someone who had been through similar experiences, Luo Xiuwen understood the allure that the man at the door could hold for a young girl. Most of the researchers at the institute had focused their intellectual growth on academic matters, making them more vulnerable to such distractions.

Jian Yiling shook her head firmly. "It's not because of him."

She was resolute in her decision, knowing that her choice to engage with this case had nothing to do with Qin Chuan himself. She had no intention of letting him know she was involved in this matter. Instead, she planned to request something in return from him—not money, but a promise.

Having read the original work, Jian Yiling understood that Qin Chuan was a man of his word.

"Really?" Luo Xiuwen asked, looking at her with skepticism.

"Really," Jian Yiling confirmed with unwavering certainty.

"Alright then, that's settled!" Luo Xiuwen said, relieved. She was just concerned that their prized gem, Jian Yiling, might be swept away by some random young man. Whatever project Jian Yiling chose to pursue was her own business.

Afterward, Jian Yiling and Cheng Yi discussed the specific arrangements for both projects in detail. After careful consideration, Cheng Yi decided to take on the medical case involving Qin Chuan's mother.
