Alina and Amaris had just finished with their makeup and walked out of the store, "Amaris will you tell me what happened between you and the elder when you were six years old?" Amaris stopped walking, "No," Amaris changed her path and started walking in the opposite direction than what was on the map. "I just want to understand why you hate the elder so much." Alina stopped walking and looked to the ground, "Your mom already told me it has something to do with an orb." Amaris stopped, "And did she tell you what the old hag did with that orb?" "No, your mom had no idea what the elder did with the orb," Alina walked up to be besides Amaris. "Fine, come with me," Amaris started to walk faster, and Alina followed close behind.
They came to a clearing ,away from all the stores, people, and noise. "It was when I was five years old that I learned about the queen's promise," Amaris sat on the ground, and Alina found it funny, because she never though Amaris would ever sit on dirt. "Take a look around, what do you see?" Alina took a look, it was then that she noticed, there was nothing. No trees, no grass, no animals or bird, she couldn't even hear one cricket. Alina looked in shock, even where she comes from, big cities have at least a little life to them, let it be birds or trees, there was always something, but here, there was nothing. Alina sat down next to Amaris and said, "Nothing, I see nothing."
"That's right, one thousand years ago our world started to die and no one knew why. The queen of the land at the time, gave a prophecy, that one day two stars would be born and give life to the land. She said that they would be able to save it, she had people build a school so that the five races of the land would live in peace until the stars arrived." Alina looked at Amaris, "The five races?" Amaris continued, "The five races are the fairies, the elves, the dwarfs, the dragons, and the humans." Alina looked behind her, for where they just came from, "How come I only saw humans back there?" Amaris also looked, "That is because the other race use to live in the forest. With no forest, they have no where to go, so they find what they can of the forest, like caves or mountains, and stay there. Many humans don't even know these other races exist; they think of them as fairy tales."
Alina looked at Amaris, "So what does any of this have to do with the orb?" Amaris looked at Alina, "You came here to get me, so I would go back with you to the elder, right?" Alina nods her head, "Well, lets go," Amaris gets up and pats the dirt from her butt, "You will see soon enough."
