Eleonore’s POV
“I was engulfed in the bedazzling stars of this world,”
My mind was blank as we walked.
“I struggled hard upon my path,”
The lights beside us barely flickered bright enough to see clearly.
“Oh comrade, whichever path I chose I was alone, not superior.”
Kaveh’s words stilled as we stood in front of a large opening, covered by something I could not identify. “Do you know where that’s from?” He whistled at one of the guards as he stood still, waiting for them to unlock the main gate of the Citadel.
“No, sir,” the man’s reply came.
“A mortal musician,” he supplied. “A beautiful song in its original language.”
“Kaveh, now isn’t the time,” Michael reproached, his arms held in front of his chest as he crossed them, staring hard at the librarian who couldn’t seem to stop talking.
I tried to stay focused, I tried to stay in the moment, to realize what was happening around me, to be conscious. But I couldn’t.
