Rivyn's breath came hard and fast, each one pulling him back from the raw intensity of the battle. He'd barely finished off one ogre, its blood still fresh on his blade, when another of the massive beasts lunged toward him with surprising speed. Unlike the last ogre, which had only attacked reactively, this one seemed dead-set on Rivyn's destruction from the start. As it charged forward, Rivyn gripped his sword tightly, mentally preparing himself for what he knew would be an even fiercer fight.
He darted forward, meeting the ogre halfway. The beast's monstrous club swung in a wide arc, forcing Rivyn to react quickly. He barely managed to roll under it, feeling the ground quake as it crashed beside him. Rising from his roll, Rivyn thrust his sword at the ogre's torso, only to be met with an unexpected resistance. The impact felt like he'd struck solid iron. Rivyn's entire arm trembled, and he stumbled backward, his grip momentarily wavering.
