Besting The Family Record

"This doesn't make any sense."

"Yes, why would they announce him as the strongest student because of some useless points."

"It's clear as a day that Idan is the strongest, we were all there when he kicked Blake's ass."

"Yes, if not for that strange power that Blake used because he doesn't want to admit defeat."

"Who knows maybe that's what he used to gathered this much beasts' core."

They were all saying all sort of things because none of them agree with the head generals' word as Blake the strongest student.

"So now let's move to the second set." Head General Francis said. "The group leaders should come forward."

"We don't have more than 145 level one beasts' core and I'm not sure if the 42 level two we have will be recorded." Diana said as she was ready to move forward. "If we are to share the points equally among ourselves, yours won't be enough to best Blake, so should we add more points to yours?"

"Do you think I care? Just share everything equally." Idan replied.

They had already planned to share the points equally among themselves or the two low ranking students will take more points, so everybody could rank up, but after hearing what Blake point is, Diana felt like Idan should have more points than others.

"Yeah, even if Idan was to best him with point, it will just make us feel like a threat to his family, so let's play it safe, you can add more points to Idan, but it shouldn't be above Blake's point." Timi suggested.

"Okay." Diana said and she move towards the stage.

"Wait, when you said, share the points equally, do you mean I'll be given the same point as every one of you."

Fifty students had gathered at the front of the stage; they are the leaders of each group in the second set.

"If your group have no beasts' core, you should move backward now." General Francis said, and 5 students moved out of the row, they were all lower rank students, so others don't think much about it.

It started as before, with General Francis calling their names, this set was far better than the first one, and that was because of the beast horde they encountered together at the entrance of the forest. The groups who move out of the row were the scared ones who didn't join the fight with the horde of beast.

It continues with all of having 10 to 20 beasts' core, but nobody has had more than that.

"Diana Wyatt." General Francis called out.

"That's Idan's group."

"Why did he make her the leader."

"You know, they're friends and are both strong."

"But teaming up with those two trashes was their worst decision."

"Hey, you forgot that Timi is also their friend, and he saved Idan's life against Blake."

"Yeah, that's true, but what about that red-haired boy."

"Maybe they chose him because there's no one left."

"No one left, I ran over to them that day, but they didn't choose me."

"And me too."

"Crap, maybe they just want to show off that the three of them can achieve a great score with those two trashes."

"Or the two Just help them to carry stuffs."

Diana brought out the bag and placed it besides the small clear bag, the large number was display and started moving up.

"35, do you think it will be up to ours?" Jake asked Blake. The number was still moving up.

"Even if their beasts' core is more than ours, none of their points will be up to mine." Blake replied.

The number continue moving upward, and as it get to 80, the student started asking each other different questions.

As it got to 110, some students had gone silence while some where shouting praising Idan and his group.

"Am I seeing things or that's 120 displayed on bag." One of the head generals said.

"No, you aren't, I knew from the start that this group is special." General Michelle said.

'Now, I'm sure of it, that strange energy come from one this student.' General Suso thought as he was smiling inwardly.

The hall atmosphere has completely changed when the number got to 150, those that were shouting before had gone silent, and those that were silent before were still keeping their mouths closed, it doesn't look real to them.

"150? Is this for real?" Temmy said rubbing her eyes.

"You're seeing it too?" Idan asked.

Even Diana who was out on the stage was also surprised, they have initially thought that the number of beasts' core they have gathered in the bag was 145, so how did it get to 150, is it some type of magic.

Little did they know that when they were all passed out in the forest, Miss Bora had extracted the core of all the dead level 1 beast around the area and put it in their bag, Jese who was with her didn't know Miss Bora had done this because he was focused extracting level two core and above to be given to the academy.

'Huh? I didn't know it will end up like this.' Miss Bora thought. 'Well, many students wouldn't have survived the strange energy while facing that worm and the gorgon, but they managed to survive it, so that's their reward.'

The number keep increasing, 160, 170, 180. When it got to 188 it stopped for some seconds before it started blinking but it didn't move from 188. When the bags were counting other students' beasts' core, it will stop on the final number when it's done, but this didn't stop, and it didn't move up or move down, the 188 was just blinking.

The head generals and the sergeants, including the teachers had gone silent, even after the bag had stopped counting and started blinking, nobody said anything and were just staring at the number, which was blinking on it, head general Francis was also speechless.

"Hey, that bag is definitely faulty, it's better you check it now!!" Blake yelled from the middle of the students, he already knew they have more beasts' core than his own group, but he never thought of it to be this much, and as he shouted, everybody had snapped out of their daze and back to normal.

"Alright everyone, calm down; we'll check if it's really faulty." General Francis said.

The atmosphere had quickly change to that of chaos as the students were shouting.

"That bag must really be faulty."

"How did they get this much beasts' core."

"Even if we don't agree with Blake, this is not just what we can accept easily."

"They must have used some power to kill beasts."

"Or they bully some low-ranking students and collect their beasts' core."

All of this was the opinion of other students in the first set, the second set just kept quite without saying anything. Even the head generals had kept quiet, and two sergeants ran over to the bag to check if it's really faulty.

"Nothing is with the bag, we discovered this group has some level 2 beasts' core and beast body in their bag, so that's why the bag was blinking because it can only record level 1 beasts' core." General Francis said as the two sergeants brought out 40 or so level 2 beasts' core and drop it on the floor and the 4 bodies. "But I want you to know that the 188 you see on the bag is the number of level 1 core they have gathered."

"Diana and his group have been rewarded 376 points. I said before that there's a Family recorded set by Blake and his brother, I think this people have bested it now." General Francis said.

"The level 2 beasts' core they have will be given to the academy, because nobody is allowed to hunt for level 2 beast but due to a tricky situation they met themselves, they have to fight the beast." He was saying what the group had explained to them in the medical room.

The students had stopped shouting after the second set that hunt in the same forest with Timi's group told them that they didn't use any special power or bully others, they were only skillful, the second set told them that when they encountered about hundred Komodo beasts, this group killed half of them within some minutes.

After hearing this, they all kept quite as they imagine one group killing about fifty beasts without getting worn out.

Blake's blood was boiling from where he was standing with his friends, he wanted to smash everybody in the hall and killed them, but he was calming himself down, even his friends moved back from him.

Timi and his group walks towards the head generals who will record their points, they didn't say anything to each other as they were all surprised because they knew that's not the amount they have gathered.

"Idan, you'll awarded 100 points as the highest rank among the group, the two girls will be awarded 80 points each while the other two boys will be awarded 60 and 56 points, you agree?" General Musoro asked.

"No, it should be equal." Idan replied which had made general Musoro coughed and other generals besides him couldn't believe what he was saying.

"Like, y- yo- you want the points to be shared equally." He asked as he looks at the others analyzing their face.

"Yes."

 "Okay, you got 75.2 points each." General Musoro said, and they started moving back.

"Wait." General Michelle called out. "Aren't you worried about Blake at all, he already has 70 points above you, so if you were to be awarded 100 points, that means you have 30 points above him but now that the points was shared equally with your group members, although you'll still be above him, but it will just be 5.2 points." He said.

"I didn't come to this academy to compete with Blake, and that 5.2 points, it might be small, but I promise you he won't be able to surpass it." Idan replied, and they move back.

Head general Michelle was surprised with that reply, and he was smiling inwardly as he has caught a lot of interest in their group.
