Luca looked at me as if he wanted to read my face and then turned to Ash.

"What do you suggest?" Luca asked flatly. 

"I suggest we analyze the situation, identify dangers, and devise countermeasures. If we stay passive and expect that Mateo's shadow will protect us, we will be sitting ducks."

Well, he was right about that. As much as having Testa in our last names sounded nice, it put targets on our backs because stupid werewolves saw us as not worthy. For many of our kind, everything is competition.

There are stories of times when werewolves would live and die for their pack, but for the last decade, there were no real packs nearby, and everyone was fending for themselves.
