Seeing Ash and Duke communicate was a big relief.

At first, Ash was reluctant to touch the massive black wolf. Ash lowered his head and approached Duke slowly, and I guessed that it had to do with Duke being an Alpha. It reminded me of how Pio and his men bowed to Duke, but this was more respectful than submissive.

Duke growled when Ash wanted to touch his back, and Ash retracted his hand and bowed deeply. For a few seconds, no one moved a muscle. Then Duke lifted his front paw on the coffee table, and Ash slowly put his hand over Duke's paw.

I watched as Ash nodded, shook his head, and hummed while reading Duke's thoughts.

I really wanted to know what they were talking about, but I also didn't want to interrupt. So, I waited.

Eventually, Ash turned to face me. "Can you call Sergio?"

I was excited. It's happening!
