A few hours later me and Oliver were getting dressed again. He looked at me while putting his pants on and said, "I wasn't joking by the way, when I asked who you were talking to. I'm not trying to be pushy or anything but I just don't want you to get yourself into a situation when we don't know where you are! So please Harper, just tell me what's going on?" I took a deep breath and said, "I texted Blake Young...my dad! If anyone knows anything about my werewolf side it'll be him." Oliver gave me an undecided look so I continued, "He's the most understanding and open person I've ever known, Oliver! Plus, I haven't seen or heard from my dad in five years! It's about damn time I get to see him." Oliver sighed and said, "What if he doesn't understand, what if he doesn't know anything about werewolves? I don't want you getting your hopes up for someone who might not get what you're going through!" I knew Oliver made a point, yes my dad is an understanding man, but I don't think he has much room in his belief box for a vampire-werewolf daughter! In a shaky voice I replied, "I'm his daughter! He'll be there for me!" I stormed out of the room and into the Compound entrance. I pulled out my phone and waited for a response from my father. A few minutes later he started calling me. I quickly answered and said, "Hello? Dad?" The other line was silent for awhile, and just as I was about to hang up a voice said, "Hey Harper. What's going on?" It was my little brother Elliots voice! Why was he calling from my dads phone? I replied, "Hey Elliot! It's so nice to hear your voice, but I really need to talk to dad! Where is he?" I heard Elliots voice begin to shake and quiver as he said, "I thought you knew!" "Knew what?" I asked suspiciously. Elliot answered, "Everyone tried reaching out to you but it was a dead line on the phone every time. And since you never kept in contact we didn't know were to find you!" I began thinking the worst has happened so I demanded, "What happened to dad, Elliot!" He let out a deep breath and said, "Dad's been dead for two years, Harper! We all thought someone finally reached out to you and you knew, I'm so sorry." Tears shattered down my face. In my quivery voice I said, "How?" Elliot was crying on the other line too as he answered, "It was an animal attack! He went on a hiking trail with some buddies, none of them came back alive! We found them three days later!" The line was simply whimpering for awhile until Elliot asked, "I know what you just heard hurts really bad, but what was so important that you needed dad to fly all the way to Chicago for?" I tried being vague when I said, "I was trying to find out something about our families bloodline. I got myself into a situation out here and I really needed dad to enlighten me on it!" Elliot didn't seem concerned on what it was until he said, "How about I fly out there, I've been living with Aunt Crystal, if I tell her you need my help she'll send me down there!" Even though Elliot couldn't help me figure out about our werewolf gene I still haven't seen my brother in five years! "Yeah, please do that. Send me a text when you arrive safely and I'll text you the address. I would pick you up but I honestly have no idea where anything in this city is besides where I'm staying at. I'll see you soon baby brother!" Then he said, "I'll be there as soon as I can Harper!" And hung up the phone. I wiped my tears away and put on a brave face as I walked back into the living room. I got in there and said, "Oliver, can I talk to you for a moment...alone?" I wasn't sure if anyone heard my phone call or not, but it doesn't matter. Oliver answered, "Of course!" We went outside the Compound and went to the bar. Yes, the same bar I died at, but that's besides the point. We sat down and ordered drinks when Oliver said, "Alright, so what did you need to talk to me about?" I gulped down the lump in my throat and replied, "Well, it turns out not keeping in touch with my family came back and bit me in the ass. My dad, he died two years ago and nobody had a clue where I was and couldn't get ahold of me to tell me. I was on the phone with my little brother Elliot earlier and he told me. I don't think he knows about the wolf gene though, but I really need to see him, now more than ever. I invited him down here for a few days. He'll be arriving probably tomorrow or so. I know I should've asked you, but he's my brother, Oliver! I know how you feel about family!" Oliver weakly smiled as he said, "You don't need to apologize for a thing! It'll be good for you to see your brother, he's a strap to your humanity which is the most important thing right now. Do you think you'll be able to control yourself? He is human and since you've just triggered your werewolf curse it'll be even harder than when you first turned to control yourself!" I thought for a moment and then answered, "He's my brother, I'd never do anything to hurt him in any way! I can control it for him!" Oliver doubted me and said, "Why don't we just practice before he gets here. You haven't been around a human since, you're fine in the bar right now because I'm distracting you. But if I wasn't here all of these people just look like giant blood bags!" I nodded my head in agreement to Oliver's idea. We grabbed someone from the bar and took her back to the Compound with us so I could practice my hunger and get myself under control. I'm just praying it works, otherwise Elliot might get hurt while he's here...
