Chapter 4: Train Station

After helping Gwen back to her feet I handed her books back to her. "Here you go."

"Thanks." She replied. "For the books. And for saving me from falling I mean."

"Yeah, no problem." I replied. "Name's Peter Parker by the way, and you are?"

"Gwen. Gwen Stacey." She told me.

"Well Gwen Stacey, nice to meet you." I said to her.

"Yeah, you too." She said.

*Ring Ring Ring*

Then before we could say more to each other the warning bell rang. Letting everyone know class was about to begin shortly.

"Looks like we'll have to cut this conversation short. But if you don't mind I wouldn't mind picking it up again later?" I said.

"Yeah. Sure. That'd be fine." Gwen said. "Well, see you later then." Gwen said.

She then walked off.

As she did Harry and Ned walked up to my side.

Ned having a shocked expression on his face. "Woah, dude. You just saved that girl from faceplanting. And you talked to her." He spoke.

"Nice moves Pete." Harry told me. "On both accounts."

"Right, thanks guys." I replied to them. "Now let's get to class before we get locked out." I said.

My friends nodding their heads in agreement we got on our way.

Me having thoroughly enjoyed the first morning in my new life.

-----------------------------------

Exiting Midtown the same way I entered it, through the buildings front entrance, I walked down the steps with my friends.

Along with Gwen.

The two of having continued the impromptu conservation we began this morning all throughout the school day.

First in AP Biology, which Gwen and I discovered we were both taking, then again at lunch. As well as in AP Chemistry.

Since Gwen is just as smart as most of her Marvel counterparts are.

Making her incredibly fun for me to chat with.

Not to down Harry or Ned or anything, but with Gwen I'm able to talk about advanced scientific theories and she has no trouble understanding me. The same for me with her. Making it easy for us to hold a conversation.

Which every time we do I find myself genuinely liking.

It's nice to have someone to discuss advance gene therapy with.

Who is my own age.

Oh and speaking of school I have learned the Flash in this reality is the one from the Amazing Spider-Man films. While Betty Brant also goes here, and is the version of herself from the MCU.

Then we have my most interesting classmate, Liz Allen.

Whose father is Adrian Toomes, aka the possible future Vulture, in this reality. Even though they don't share the same last name. I also discovered, through a quick google search, that Liz has an older broker named Mark. The two being biologically related just like in the Spectacular Spider-Man series.

So yeah, school today in social regards wasn't boring.

Though many of my classes were.

Honestly with my intelligence I could sleep through all of them and still get straight A's.

But I won't.

Since if I do I know I'll have to hear nagging from May and Ben.

Who are the reason I am not in college right now. Since from my new memories it seems they wanted me to go to high school and develop social skills. Which I don't blame them for. Since no matter how smart you are if you don't have at least some social skills like can get difficult.

Just look at Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory.

Yeah, no offense but I do not want to end up like him. At least regards to socially.

So I'm cool going to high school.

Besides, since I can get all my school work done without any trouble that'll free be up to focus on other things.

Like getting my career as Spider-Man off the ground.

As well as looking into several other things.

For instance, since Gwen exist in this universe I need to see if a certain person does as well.

A man who is one of the original Spider-Man's greatest enemies, and the man responsible for the entire Spider-Man clone saga. Miles Warren aka The Jackal.

Because with the way I am there is no way in hell I am ever going through a Clone Saga.

At the hands of Warren, or anyone for that matter.

No one's making more of me.

That's a promise.

I also need to find a way to make money. Both to use towards my activities as Spider-Man, and just so I can comfortably enjoy life. Since there is no way in hell I'm falling the basically always broke Spider-Man trope.

Hell no, I'm going to get the green and take a money bath.

"Well see you guys tomorrow." I told the others.

Since we had reached the end of the steps leading to the schools entrance. Thus it was time for us to go our separate ways.

"See ya Peter." Ned told me.

"Yeah, bye Pete." Harry spoke.

"Later Peter." Gwen said.

Once they did I gave them all a two-finger salute and took off on my skateboard.

Where I then went straight home.

But I didn't stay for long.

I just needed to stop by there to get something.

The satchel that belonged to my father. The one from the Amazing Spider-Man films. Which the original Peter found several days before going on his trip to Oscorp.

Which still contained the file on the Spider Project that Richard worked on before trying to go into hiding.

Only to fail in that plan and end up dead.

Well, actually I don't know that for sure. Considering an alternate ending of the Amazing Spider-Man film showed Richard to be alive. So maybe he is in this reality as well.

Who knows?

But since the man is now my father I'm certainly going to investigate his case.

To that end after I grabbed the satchel, with all its original contents inside of it, which thankfully Peter didn't show to anyone other than Ben and May yet, I headed for the Roosevelt Train Station where the train car that contained my father's secret and personal lab was hidden.

Though of course before going there I turned off my phone, and removed both its SIM card and battery.

Since this is a Marvel universe, and if you're not a little bit paranoid then you might as well be wearing a 'kill me' sign slung around your neck.

Constant vigilance!

Moving on.

It was easy for me to get to the hidden station.

Once I did I followed all of Peter's actions from the films and soon found myself watching as the secret train car laboratory lifted itself out of the ground.

Seeing this I was reminded again how much a genius Richard Parker, my now father, is.

As the train car stopped lifting out of the ground, and its doors opened I walked over to it and then entered it.

The train cars lights coming on the moment I did.

Revealing to me my fathers personal lab.

Filled with tons of equipment.

An electron microscope, a mini laboratory refrigerator, beakers, test tubes, protective equipment to conduct experiments with, a computer, etc.

There was all that and more.

All of it fully powered.

Even after all these years of non-use.

Which is one of the many reasons I am making this place my base of operations as Spider-Man.

Installing my own upgrades of course.

Moving through the train car I stopped when I reached the computer.

Which had several pictures, including one of me and my dad when I was younger, taped to it.

Along with a notification that a download had been completed.

Taking a seat in the chair in front of the computer I inhaled and then exhaled.

After which I pressed the 'Enter' on the keyboard and then lines of code appeared on the screen for a brief second before a video file of my father started playing.

"Greetings, to whoever is viewing this. My name is Richard Parker. And whatever lies may be told about me I want to assure you this video contains the real truth of the matter at hand. Recently I have discovered elements within Oscorp are conspiring to sell my research to an outside party. I don't know who the party is, nor do I know what they intend to use my work for. But I can only assume it will be for nefarious purposes. Therefore I have made a choice. A choice to into hiding. I have destroyed as much of the archived files stored at Oscorp as possible, though I was unable to destroy the spiders. Even so that is alright. For you see there is something no one but I knows. The DNA I encoded into the spiders was my own. So without me, without my bloodline, those who wish to use my work for nefarious purposes will not get very far. I understand some people may think of me as a coward, but I do not care. For as a scientist I have a responsibility to keep what I created out the hands of those that would use it to do harm. Of course I know this means I will have to leave my son Peter. And that I may never be able to see him again. As a father this is this is the hardest choice I've ever had to make. But to keep him safe, from those that are after me and my work, I will do what I must. I just wish I had more time. Though maybe with the help of SHIELD I can step back into the world one day, and explain my choices to everyone, but especially my son. I just hope when that day comes, he understands."

"Dad!"

A young me spoke.

He then came into the room and Richard stopped the recording.

The video then ended.

As it did I simply stared at the screen, overcome with emotions and crying.

I mean I saw the films, and the recording in it, but seeing Richard's video message in person is something else.

Also, what the fuck? My dad was involved with SHIELD.

That certainly wasn't in the film.

But at least I now have confirmation they exist here.

Which means the agency is likely infected with HYDRA.

Just fucking great.

Boy, this has been a day.
