The Super Mech System

As humans conquered the solar system, faster than light travel became a sought after ability to facilitate humanity’s expansion. However, upon achieving this, humans accidentally formed rips in space-time that opened up special Pocket Realms. These realms housed special planets similar to Earth, but they possessed hostile environments and dangerous, supernatural beasts with special abilities. Within each beast was a special crystal and as humans harvested these crystals, they utilised its special properties to construct the special synthetic life-form known as the ‘mech’. These mechs were nanotechnology suits, that bonded to a human host and acted as a thin, highly useful suit when activated. Technology advanced at rapid pace following this discovery, as mechs could provide humans with oxygen in low oxygen environments, heal injuries, amplify speed and strength by hundreds of times and much more. Humans soon created the genetic score that represented how easily a mech would bond to them as a host and how effective that symbiotic relationship would be. Those with higher genetic scores were lauded and rewarded for their talents, while those who weren’t as lucky were forced to settle at the bottom of society. Born into a small, working-class family, Alonso was born with an appalling genetic score of 0.11. As a result, he lived on mech-less, even past the Mech Adoption Age of 14, because it was too dangerous to let his body bond to a mech. However, he, gains a unique power, the super mech system. No longer powerless, he can now accomplish his dream of becoming a mech combatant! Although, he must navigate the challenges and obstacles of the insanely competitive mech combatant academy.

The Pocket Realm

Living in the southwestern area of Sago City, he travelled northeast and the streets he were in gradually got sleeker, smoother and more developed.

The skyscrapers that surrounded him were sometimes as wide as 100 m by 100 m at their base and rose kilometres into the air.

These were the buildings that were used mainly by interplanetary organisations. Arriving at a skyscraper of similar size, he was met by various guards and patrolmen who encircled this building.

Across the glass skyscraper was the name 'Enigma Depths PRA'.

The building was surrounded by large walls and gates to stop individuals simply storming in. The Enigma Depths PRA was a major PRA in the supply of pocket realms to the planets of Earth, Mars and Venus.

Its total revenue was absolutely massive and some of its shares were actually owned by Kai's family, the prestigious Cordano Family.

Upon giving basic identification, he was given access and met up with around 400 other individuals who were heading to that pocket realm.

They stood in a large field that was beside the skyscraper, and inside such field was a large concrete helipad.

In only a few minutes, an aerial vehicle came to gracefully land, while pulling in its smallish wings. The plane had a wide body and smaller wings, but it had a large inside to give space to these 400 people.

This was the Infinity ED-02 model, where ED stood for enigma depths. These planes were specifically designed to handle the speeds of faster than light travel without injuring and killing its passengers.

They were instructed to enter, and the people were clad in various different mechs. Some were rarer reds and purples, but most fell under the standard greyscale. The most common colour for a mech was black, but they still varied in design between every single person in some way.

"Travelling to FTL Outpost A3B. Time of travel: 7 minutes 58 seconds." The plane called out.

The areas where faster than light travel could be achieved were usually in the most sparsely populated areas of a country, or in the sea.

Sago City was near the southern area of the country, and was only a few hundred miles from the coast. Therefore, this plane was heading for an aquatic FTL outpost.

It soared across the sky at supersonic speeds, reaching as fast as Mach 10. It could go a lot faster on its own, but it wasn't necessary to waste its fuel in just heading to an outpost.

Sailing across the water at insane speed, the waters flowed and formed roaring waves under it in its advance. Suddenly, two large metal trapdoors that were under the water slowly opened to allow the vehicle to enter.

Under these trapdoors was an elaborate labyrinth of paths to take for the plane. There were various different lanes that were already occupied with planes and they waited in queues.

Finding its own lane, planes were getting thrown forward at faster than the speed of light and would then disappear entirely.

Alonso's aircraft edged forward slowly then the surroundings started to roar intensely. During this point, shudders fell down over the weak glass openings in the aircraft to protect its passengers.

VOOM!

Accelerating at an incredible rate, the aircraft was coated in streaks of blue and white energy before it started ripping through space and time itself.

This occurred for about a few seconds, then it was clear to view the surroundings through the large windows in the cabin.

They were surrounded by total darkness but ahead of them was a large dungeon planet, that looked to be twice the size of Earth. There were numerous other aircraft of similar size that were cruising toward this planet, which had a mossy green and yellow exterior.

There were pockets of ocean across its surface but it was most definitely dominated by land.

'Pocket Realm, here I come!' Alonso said to himself in excitement.

With his XP Boost, he was quick to place it into strength. Right now, he didn't pack a serious punch and he wanted to make himself as strong as possible for the threats he was about to face.

Soon enough, the planet's surface dominated their view and they gracefully landed, releasing the warriors.

"A plane will be returning to this location in approximately 6 hours. Be ready in six hours to be returned to Earth." The airplane called out, before lifting off into flight once again.

There was a slight breeze and the current temperature outside of his mech was -8 degrees celsius.

Luckily for his mech, it was regulating his own body temperature, and he traversed the lush, icy green fields that surrounded him.

For how cold it was, there wasn't much ice collected over the surrounding flora. The planet didn't seem to have as much water as on Earth, and the sky was still relatively clear.

The sky looked somewhat blue but was also a greener in colour.

The surrounding area was sparsely populated with trees but after a few minutes of walking, he arrived in a denser forest. The trees towered over him and even the small plants of the canopy were large enough to reach his hips.

*growl*

Alonso began to view his surroundings with intensity and absolute focus.

Out of no where, a pale-skinned beast charged at him. It had six legs and resembled a large dog, except it had four eyes.

It leapt toward Alonso, who was more than frightened.

'What is that?!' He wondered, speedily using his heat slash.

He slashed across its belly as it descended, killing it in one go. As it slid past his body, numerous other beasts of similar appearance charged toward him. Using his heat slash, he managed to dismantle the small hoard of beasts.

With his heat slash, the task was made much easier for him, and his greater strength allowed him to dig deeper into their bodies with his blade.

6 of these spider-like dogs' bodies surrounded him, and he then entered the MechAtlas through the use of his mech. On dungeon planets, humans were keen on extending the access to the database. For it to work, it had to be stored on special databases in these pocket realms.

Luckily enough, this realm had been ventured to enough for it to have a decent portion of the MechAtlas' data.

Since he was also on that planet, the data it had was centred around this pocket realm in particular. It didn't take long for him to identify what these beasts were, using his mech.

They were so-called spider dogs and were Tier 5 beasts. Beasts had been ranked on an interplanetary ranking system. Tier 5 was the weakest, least dangerous beasts while Tier 1 housed some of the strongest beasts ever found in humankind. Beasts of that level would require army units to defeat and then there was the supposed Tier 0.

Tier 0 was the tier above Tier 1 that housed true demonic beasts, that were colloquially referred to as 'Bosses'. Full armies were required to detain these beasts, and the battles were always bloody.

The beast crystal harvested from these beasts could be used to construct mechs with immeasurable power. Mechs of this sort were almost exclusively reserved for extremely rich people, extremely powerful people or royalty.

Harvesting their crystals, he was happy to see that the crystals took up a mere slot in his inventory and he harvested all six of them before continuing his journey.

He felt uneasy from the deafening silence of the surrounding forest. There was no breeze in this area and the leaves around him remained totally still.

It was totally silent.

Too silent.

Each step that he took was slow and controlled, while he held his dagger close to his body.

Suddenly, he felt heavy steps coming from his right and before he could properly react, he was hit with a punch from a tough, solid object.

Bam!

He slammed right into an adjacent tree, then dipped under the next punch as fast as he could to view his surroundings slightly better.

Ahead of him was a large golem, made entirely of rock. It was 6'5, and was hundreds of kilograms of solid stone. Across it were vines and patches of moss, while it glared at him with its glowing golden eyes.

"GLEEEURRGHHH!!" The beast deeply roared, while charging forward.
