Avinash's over was complete. But he went on bowling for another two. Nausad came and talked to him, as Suraj could see. He could understand by Avinash's waving of both hands that he wanted to continue with the bowling. He could not bear the pain of being hit for a six. He wanted to get him out.
So Avinash came running to deliver the ball. The vast field had taken up some dreamy existence in the eyes of Suraj. "That red shirt is coming to bowl." If you asked Suraj, he couldn't have said anything more.
Two more blocks. Then, another six! By then it seemed to become easy as pie to Suraj. He didn't see that much where the ball landed. But he saw it very well when the bat should be drawn down. The ball seemed to be four times larger than a tennis ball. Within a fraction of a second, it was hit. That same result was repeated.
The anguish of Avinash was clear in his face. He told Nausad that he wanted to bowl some more. Within a space of another eight balls, he was hit for two more sixes.
Now Naushad took the ball away from him.
