Chapter Four

"Whoa, are you sure honey?" Patrick asks walking away from the counter and over to her. Alex does the same thing. "I mean no pressure you don't have to go if you don't want to."

"She wants to," Alex says being more excited about this than she is. Well, she has always wanted to go to Lenfaria, meet her family and be in the same school as Alex. And from the stories she's heard of Euroix, it's more magical than any fictional world created by any writer from this world.

"Pierre told me that I destroyed a bunch of vampires with my powers. And if vampires could find me that easily, that means my power is getting stronger. And you said that if my power does start to grow then that's when I can go to Lenfairia."

Patrick nods. "I did say that," he says. And Elena understands why he's being so defensive about this. Why he doesn't think she's ready, deep down he knows that she's ready but he's the one not ready. For his daughter to finally leave Earth to go to a world that has evil waiting for her. He doesn't want to lose her like he lost his wife, Alex's mom Alexandra Walker.

Elena ignores Alex's smile and places a hand on Patrick's shoulder. "I'm going to be okay Dad," she says and Patrick has a small smile on his face. He puts his hand on her face.

"I know you will," he says and they both look at each other. Elena's blue looking into his light brown. Patrick lets go of her and clears his throat. He looks over at Alex. "When do you guys leave?"

"Tomorrow?" he says. "We can spend time with you before we leave. Or you can come home with us since you don't have to take care of Elena here anymore." Alex suggests but Patrick shakes his head.

"I still have unfinished business here. You guys go on without me," he says then Elena wraps him up in a hug. "Oww, darling."

"You're the best," she says.

Elena sits on her bed and she looks around her room. Anyone who walks into her room will know the kind of things she likes. From the political books on her bookshelf to the Taylor Swift poster and her pretty pink desk. They'll know she's a legally blond type. The kind of girl who is feminine and is into law and politics.

She's always known that she wasn't going to be staying on earth for long since that faithful day she got her period and light balls were moving about in the air. But she never thought she'd be going there at a young age. She thought her powers would grow in her late twenties at least. But here she is.

She's going to miss this planet, she's going to miss this house. She grew up here and even though she cannot wait to go to a magical land, she's going to miss her time in this world filled with magicless ordinary people. She wonders if the Magi (Magical creatures) think they're the ordinary ones and people with no magic are the ones who are extraordinary.

Someone knocks on the door and she assumes it's either Patrick or Pierre. Alex never knocks he just barges in and luckily he's never barged in on her naked. It's like he knows when she's fully clothed or not.

"Come in," she says and in comes Alex slowly stepping into the room.

Elena looks at him with furrowed brows. "Since when do you knock?" she asks.

He gives her a look. "What do you mean? I always knock," he says and Elena rolls her eyes with a smile on her face. Alex sits on the bed next to her. People have always seen this family as strange. A white girl living with a family of brown-skinned people with pointy ears. People have always thought they were out of this world but of course, people had it in mind that Elena was obviously adopted.

Alexandra Walker, Alex's mom died when she and Alex were ten years old. She had gone to fight a bunch of witches of her own. This world was never supposed to have knowledge of magic but some humans are very stubborn that's why there are witches in this world.

Alex's mom went to go and stop them on her own because she missed the thrill of fighting monsters. She was one of the best students at Hollow Prep Academy back in her day. She single-handedly killed seventy-one vampires when they raided the school once. She was just fifteen.

The school had to give her her statue because she earned it. Being the youngest elf to earn an honorary statue of her own. It's a shame her stubbornness got her killed. The witches here are just as powerful as the witches back in Lenfairia, but they don't know anything about Elena's power or her. Maybe they do since the vampires here almost killed her last night.

Alex was a wreck when she died and begged his mom to come back. Elena knew she was never going to wake up because she knew she had left for good. She misses her, she wonders what life would have been if she was still alive.

Most of the time when Alex comes to Elena's room or when Elena goes to his room they don't talk they just sit in silence. They were thirteen when they were sitting all quiet then Alex broke the silence, telling Elena that he's gay. According to him, it was the Disney boys that turned him, and he had a little crush on Nicholas back then, that was before he and Elena got together.

Elena wrapped him up in a big hug and told him that she loved him regardless. So did Patrick, he didn't care and Lenfairia is more gay-friendly than this planet. When they came here to find out being gay was illegal in most countries Patrick and Alexandra were both shocked and confused because why would love be illegal?

Alex has never had a boyfriend as handsome as he is. He's not boy-crazy like Elena. He is less focused on boys and more focused on, according to him more important goals. Alex wants to be a knight and protect people from evil and it suits him.

"I caught Nicholas kissing Naomi last night," Elena says and Alex looks at her in shock.

"What?"

"Yep, so depressing."

"Wait I expected Nicholas to cheat on you because you know I never trusted that wanker, but Naomi? Bloody hell."

"I know, I was just as shocked as you."

"I swear I'm going to kill him."

"At first I wanted you to do that but honestly just let him be. I'll be leaving soon enough so he and Naomi can do whatever the fuck they want with each other."

"Elena do you want to go to Lenfairia because you're running from people or you want to go to Lenfairia because you want to."

"Oh, I want to. I want to I'm not doing this because of them," she says. "I'm doing this for me, for my birth parents and our mom." Alex smiles at her for saying that.

"I just learned that I destroyed vampires with my powers and I want to learn more about it. I want to know why I'm the most powerful fairy and I know I would look cute with a pair of wings." she waggles her eyebrows and Alex rolls his eyes with his smile still intact.

"You were pretty badass last night."

"That's what Pierre said but I wish I remembered."

"You fainted after. You were in complete shock. I was in shock."

"The possibility of me ending vampires has me shocked as well." Elena says and they both go back to being quiet before Alex says: "You're going to love it there." Elena smiles at him, she's excited more excited to go to that world now more than ever and she's not just going to be looking at the world through pictures but with her own eyes. She knows it's going to be beautiful.

"Speaking of beautiful. Can we talk about Pierre now?"

"Ugh, I knew it." Alex groans.

"What? You knew what?"

"I knew you were going to like him because he's hot."

"Well, he is isn't he?"

"Yeah, whatever but he just got out of a breakup, he caught his evil ex-girlfriend cheating on her with-" he stops talking and he gives Elena a weird look like he's not supposed to tell her something.

"What? Spill, who did she cheat on Pierre with?" Alex still doesn't answer.

"Alex!"

"Fine. She cheated on Pierre with your cousin."

"What? Henry?"

"It's not Billy, he's only ten that would be weird."

"Whoa." Elena shakes her head. "What's the point of being with someone if they're going to cheat?" she asks.

"I don't know, this is why I think relationships are a waste of time." He says. "But hey look at the bright side you and Pierre both got cheated on maybe you're destined for each other after all," Alex says with a grin waggling his eyebrows.

Elena smiles at him shaking her head.

She's just not ready for a relationship right now and she knows neither is he. What she wants to do is focus on getting to Lenfairia, but first, she wants to spend one last day with her dad before she leaves.
