1942 Computer

We all look at Rhett, wondering what he will say next. He examines the device in his hands, not saying a word.

Rhett turns it over in his hands, "I'm not sure if it needs charged or if we can just do it now. There looks to be a port, but I don't think that's to charge it. It could be to hook it up to a computer."

"But wouldn't the computer have to be one from 1942? I don't think it would work on a laptop," Felix crosses his arms, "Is there a cord anywhere near where it was found? Or even a computer?"

Everyone starts looking around where he found it. I don't see a cord anywhere. A computer would have to be very big and I don't see anything that big around.

Rhett stops looking, "I'm not finding anything. We might have to try it in a laptop."

"Wait, would there be a computer in one of the rooms that we could use? It might not be exactly from 1942, but it could be close, right? Or would it be more advanced then our laptops?" I glance at Rhett and the device.

He stops, "That could work. We should split up and cover more rooms. If you don't find anything, we'll meet back here." He looks at me, "Atlas, you can go to the east wing. Felix, you can take the north, and Jasper, you can have the west wing. I'll take the rest of the south and double check the storage unit."

"One question," Felix glances at Rhett, "What does a 1942 computer look like?"

Rhett laughs, "Just look for an old huge computer, like almost fills the whole room big. If you can't tell, we can always go back together and check."

Rhett nods at us, and we take that as a cue to split up. I race towards the east wing. The faster I get there, the quicker we can figure this while thing out.

It probably sounds bad that I want to figure it out, but I just want to know. I have a feeling that I'm not even his soulmate. The faster we figure it out, the fast Felix and Jasper can get to love each other.

I check the first few rooms, all locked. I tried to look through the windows on the doors, but I couldn't see much. They don't look like there would be a computer in those rooms.

The next room I check is unlocked. I peer my head inside. There are large tube like containers with liquid on the inside. I wonder what those are for. I should probably get out since there isn't a computer in here.

I look through the rest of the rooms in the east wing, and I come up empty handed. I should start heading back. I wonder if the others found anything.

Rhett is the only one back from looking for the computer. He is sitting down, leaning his head back into the wall.

"No luck?" Rhett acknowledges my presence.

I nod, "I saw a weird room with a bunch of liquid in tubes. That was about the only interesting thing in all of the rooms."

"I don't even want to think about what those were used for," Rhett looks over at me.

I look over at the storage unit, "Did you find anything with the device? Should we maybe try it on a laptop?"

"I didn't find anything," He sits up, "Maybe we should. It never hurts to try."

Rhett continues to look at me, " I have a laptop, but I obviously don't have it here with me. How about if the computer idea doesn't work, then tomorrow, since it's so late, we can meet at the library or something. I can bring my laptop and a cord and try it like that."

"That sounds like a good idea. I'm down if Jasper and Felix can wait until tomorrow. Well, if the computer doesn't work," Rhett smiles.

We hear feet pounding down the hallway. Felix and Jasper are running towards us.

"I think we found it!" Jasper shouts.

Rhett and I jump up to follow them to the room. Once we arrive to the room, Jasper and Felix have the biggest smiles on their face.

There it was. A computer from 1942 this is our chance to solve our problem.
