Chapter 54: The Breach
Bloodfangs pour in through the broken gate like water through a burst dam. The whole enemy force converges on the breach. My Springstorms’ human forms quickly fall as the Bloodfangs assault them with tooth and claw. The Bloodfangs pin them and tear them apart. Their blood stains the ground near the gate, and its scent seems to invigorate our enemies.
My people are dying. They’re dying in the battle that I led them into.
“This ‘Alpha’ of theirs is nothing but a banepup,” Crowin declares. “He doesn’t understand what a Bloodfang is. We are the conquerors who have forsaken the soft and pathetic light that guides lesser packs. We are the children of He Who Rends. We have the favor of Slaughter’s Song, He who is war, who is battle, who holds dominion over gun and bomb and fang and claw. These fools think they can triumph over us in that very domain. Let’s show them how wrong they are!”
The Bloodfang forces let out a thunderous howl.
