Chapter 18 : Best Advice from a Best Friend

Cruz’s POV

“Okay, you have to tell me what is on your mind.”

I look up and see my best friend, Juan, staring at me with an intuitive fixation. We are sitting at the kitchen table first thing in the morning. We are in the flat I am currently renting out because I was not about to stay with my parents in the penthouse suite.

It is one of those modern places that feel business-like and a bit cold. Most of the tables and countertops are jet black granite. The walls are a pale gray while the furniture consists of varying shades of gray. Even the plates are an off-white that looks like shaded wispy clouds.

It feels dull.

I lean back in my seat and stare at my breakfast, which has long since grown cold, as well as the news article that is currently up on my touch tablet. I know I have not read a single word of the article and, honestly, I do not care to read it. Sure, it is business related, but it doesn’t seem to matter at the moment.
