CHAPTER 58

After settling into the truck seat, I close my eyes for a split second and then I hear the loud roar of a trucker speeding down the road at full throttle. I watch as the semi rolls past me and my truck shakes from the drag, while it tries to pull me along behind it onto the road. One thing that I have to say for trucks like that, they do have a lot of power.

Smiling, I turn the engine over and hear it purr before pulling onto the road and barreling along. When I try to catch up to the semi in front of me, I watch while a deer runs out into the road, and then I must swerve to not hit it. I almost lose it completely and end up in the ditch but correct it right at the last minute and then I see the oncoming traffic.

The glare from the cars on the other side of the road distract me, and I swerve too far over before going into the ditch. “Shit!” I swear at the top of my lungs when the truck comes to a stop.
