The purple-lined skeletons had awoken from their slumber, but Dante and Ulfred didn't stop! As the two got closer to the 'soldiers,' they didn't break the formation and waited for the two's arrival!
Nathaniel and Iona didn't follow the other two. Instead, upon entering the hall, they hid behind the closest giant stone pillar. It wasn't a perfect camouflage, but for now, it was enough to keep the attention of the skeletons away from them!
Ulfred had a thick thighbone on both of his hands. In a fight, he liked to use his hands more, but he didn't deny the effectiveness of a weapon!
"You have so many health points, let's use that! Go forth and break their formation, old man!" Dante said.
Ulfred was slower compared to Dante, but with his 1.90 meters height and 150 kg weight, he did not differ from a giant cannonball once sped up!
Unlike the other purple-lined pygmy skeletons, the dungeon boss had a red glint in its hollow eye sockets. It didn't make a move after awakening from its slumber and 'watched' the events that were playing before its 'eyes.'
*Boom*
Ulfred's body heavily slammed to the skeleton soldier formation, breaching the front rank! The impact of the 'cannonball' sent flying at least ten skeletons!
After he lost the momentum, he swung the thighbones horizontally without a stop!
With his every blow, two to three skeletons flew and bumped to other skeletons! But, despite their broken and crumbled bones, one strike wasn't enough to kill them! If the blow didn't come to their backbones, the skeletons that Ulfred had hit were still one piece! He needed two to three hits for killing one skeleton!
But Ulfred wasn't alone! Dante took on the support role and was there to finish the wounded skeletons! However, before long, he stopped doing that! Now he aimed only for their spines and legs!
"Old man, we won't last long if this keeps up! Focus on crippling them! We have to reach the dungeon boss as soon as possible!"
Dante was aware of the situation. They were advancing quickly but receiving claw wounds at the same time! These bastards were attacking together! There was no way of blocking all their attacks!
Then a sudden idea struck to Dante's mind, as he watched Ulfred sent flying every skeleton he had hit! Although they were light-weighted, the bones of these skeletons were remarkably sturdy, and their joints were equally difficult to break.
The two weren't trying to kill all the enemies in this hall. They were trying to make their way to the dungeon boss. In this case, wouldn't this make the skeletons a better weapon compared to the thighbones on their hands?
As soon as the idea came to his mind, Dante grasped a skeleton from the head by inserting his fingers into its eye sockets, and swung its whole body to the nearby skeletons with all of his might!
*Crack*
Because of many joints that a skeleton's body had, the blow wasn't heavy. But, despite dealing less damage compared to a blow from the thighbones, each swing sent flying five skeletons!
With just two swings, the skull of the skeleton that Dante grabbed snapped from its body! However, this much was enough!
Two swings cleared the area around Dante from enemies!
'It works! Even I can do it! Old man Ul can definitely do better than me!'
Dante was about to call Ulfred's name when he heard his laughter!
"Wha ha ha! And you are calling me savage! Look at yourself now! Wha ha ha!"
Naturally, Ulfred had heard the loud bone hitting bone noises coming from his behind! When he saw the scenery which Dante had caused, even in this situation, he couldn't hold back his laughter!
"Stop laughing and grab the skeletons! Your legs and back are bleeding old man! At this rate, you will die! Keep them away from yourself!"
Dante didn't need to tell Ulfred what he had to do! The old man had already grabbed two skeletons with his large hands! One has been caught by its head and the other one by its leg!
The next scenery Dante has seen was 'beautiful' in a different sense!
Purple-lined bones flew everywhere!
Using the skeletons as weapons were definitely less effective in terms of damage, but they were providing stronger knockback power and wider area of reach for the user. However, in the hands of Ulfred, somehow the skeletons were a deadlier weapon!
The old man was a real savage, not a fake savage like Dante! After Ulfred dealt a blow, the ones he had hit were often getting up again, but the ones he had used as weapons were turning into a pile of bones upon impact!
Ulfred kept crushing skeletons with wide-open eyes and a broad smile on his face! His vigor seemed to increase with every skeleton he had broken to pieces!
Even Dante had to keep his distance from Ulfred under check now!
"Ha ha ha! I shouldn't have given you a weapon! Sorry for hindering you old man! Now wreak havoc to your heart's content!"
After seeing the savage beast in front of him, Dante's hopes fired up again!
He looked ahead, to the dungeon boss! It has unmovingly stayed there all this while! The red glint in its eyes was giving an ill feeling to Dante as if it was seeing them in the real sense!
He knew dealing with the crowd of the skeleton was the easy part here! The real issue was the dungeon boss itself! And soon they would be in the middle of two armies!
...
When Niles have come out of the cave-path, he couldn't believe his eyes first. There were many purple-lined pygmy skeletons in this hall. He could clearly see the dungeon boss and 'the two crazy warriors' in the middle of the crowd of the skeleton.
This hall was the boss room, and because of Dante, they had to fight with these high-level monsters with their level 1 strength! His hatred toward Dante has gone up a notch after he thought about it!
Niles had a gloomy expression. Only the numbers were in favor of them. On the other hand, every single enemy in this hall could kill at least five newcomers!
However, Niles would never back down, because his sword's existence was the key factor here. As soon as he starts killing the skeletons, his party could swiftly become stronger in no time!
After gazing at the hall for a while more, he discovered Nathaniel and Iona, and also the room filled with daylight!
The giant stone pillars were enough to keep skeletons' attention away for now, but the party of Niles was a different case!
"Vance! Jeffrey! Take twenty men with you after leveling up a few times and chase down those two! They are probably trying to reach the other end of the hall! Do not let them go in!" Niles commanded and looked ahead, to where Dante and the dungeon boss were.
"The rest of us will kill the dungeon boss under my leadership! And those two..." Niles gritted his teeth. "Try to catch Dante alive! My earlier promise is still valid! You can kill the big guy!"
"AS YOU COMMAND BOSS!" The newcomers bellowed at the same time. They hated Dante too!
Satisfied with the response of his party members, Niles looked at the longsword in his hand. He couldn't hold his smirk back after he had done so!
In his first night in this cruel world, he has found the sword at the roadside! Yes, he has found it just like that! It was lying at the foot of tall grasses!
Niles was at the front of the newcomer group who were walking toward The Sunfell Town. He had bad eyesight, but somehow, he was the first newcomer who had seen it!
Niles didn't care where the sword had come! He immediately jumped onto the sword and sucked it into his inventory before anyone else saw it!
As of now, everything he had was thanks to the sword. He had not even needed to use it until now! As soon as the other newcomers saw the longsword, they called him boss and pledged him their loyalty! Those who later joined his party didn't even need to see the sword. They had just wanted to become a part of his big party!
However, Dante's party was an exception! Niles has been regretting that he didn't draw his sword when he invited Dante to his party. If he had done so, now maybe everything could have been different.
...
At least Niles thinks so.
