Reminiscences Of The Family (1)

Aldoh Carldey POV:

When I heard that Haral was going to be a father, I didn't know what to think, he that clumsy, stupid guy, a father? Obviously I was worried about what would happen to the child so I told him, if he wanted my help, he just needed to ask. And so he did, he knew I was a doctor who could use mana, so he gave me an important task, to be a part of the birth of his first child.

He, The Iron Wall, famous for his unique personality, well known throughout our guild, formally inviting me to be a part of such an important occasion.

I couldn't say no.

Lynda knew me and trusted my abilities not only as a doctor but also as an Awakened; She was very happy that I would be there, if something goes wrong she knew my healing skill is in the top 3 of our entire guild.

The day came; The delivery ended without a hitch, and a healthy boy with black hair and green eyes was born.

I was surprised at how calm that boy was. He did cry a little, but after a few minutes he stopped, and all I could see was the curiosity coming from his eyes.

He even smiled in Lynda's arms right after giving birth, I can only imagine how she must have felt to see her firstborn smiling in her arms right after birth; such a blessing.

As the days went by, Haral nearly gave me a heart attack.

That idiot gave the Constitution Drug made for an adult to a newborn child; the concentration in each dose has a huge difference!

Luckily, I was staying at the time and managed to clear most of the drug; that careless guy!

Lynda heard about this and glared at Haral (he had to sleep in the living room that day).

She asked me to stay and help take care of the child as she was busy, I said I'm not a babysitter, she laughed and then said something I'll never forget; She asked me to be the boy's first master, and teach him about mana...

Being the first master of the first born son of the two legends within our guild?! They were already quite famous when I joined, such a situation I never expected to happen.

In the end, I accepted, but as he was still very young, I thought I would only teach him something when he turned 6 or older…

I was wrong.

One day I asked the boy to be part of my training and Haral's, just to see how he would behave.

And once again I was surprised. I asked the boy to sit cross-legged next to his father; I assumed the boy would jump up and not pay attention to anything I said, however, he sat up perfectly and started looking at me, apparently trying to pay as much attention as possible.

I wasn't taking it seriously, but I asked him to pay attention to my breathing, and that I would teach him how to cultivate mana.

However, as time passed, the boy started breathing just like I was!

I noticed that he felt dizzy, so I told him he should stop; I couldn't believe what I saw.

How did that kid get that? My mind was a mess, but since I had an open bet with Haral (a bet on who can stay longer cultivating), I focused on continuing our cultivation.

A few hours later we heard Lynda screaming; Haral changed, his eyes were on fire, his presence made me shiver; The Iron Wall had appeared.

We headed towards the scream, where we found Lynda carrying Luken who had blood on the back of his neck.

I went to help but Lynda slapped my hand and before going to Luken's room she said she would talk to us later.

Both me and Haral didn't know what happened, so we waited in the living room.

Then, Lynda appeared, she questioned us about what we did with Luken, we explained, but apparently she didn't believe it.

After, she started screaming saying it was our fault, and when we thought we wouldn't be able to fix things easily…

Luken appeared, saying it wasn't our fault.

Lynda got him in her arms and left, but while she headed back, Luken... that kid... that kid blinked at me!

That was the first time I noticed that kid was not normal, but it was not the only time... Ohh... it was not, there was plenty…

If I had to say what was the one moment that I understood this kid wasn't just abnormal, was when he understood how to control mana in just a few minutes, not a year, or a month, neither a day, just 40 minutes!

How the… is this possible?

I or any other mana user would take from a week to a year, and this kid just understood in 40 minutes!

Anyway, he surprised me a lot of times, and I'm starting to think I'm a better master than I thought!

Why? How would you explain this kid having nearly as much mana as I have, being only five-year-old?! I know, I know I think I should become a teacher in one of those big academies.

I would earn much more prines, not to mention the respect of the big families and powers.

Yeah, I might do that in the future…

But for now, I must concentrate on teaching this little monster, named Luken Moray; he is only five years old and has learned more than 3 skills...

Not to mention his aptitude for using weapons... Ugh... I don't even like to think about that day, I hope neither Luken nor Lynda mention the results of that game, it's too embarrassing.

Sometimes I thought Luken would be like his father, a brute with a gigantic aptitude for combat.

However, there was one day when he proved me wrong while teaching me something new; One day we were playing a card game. I was very focused on winning as usual, but he realised that his mother wanted to win, but was losing every time, apparently he didn't like that.

So he started to pay more attention to the game, and he kicked me out of the game, and did everything he could to get his mother to win against him!

She won in the end, and he even pretended he was mad about it.

But, I could see him smiling as his mother celebrated her first victory.

Luken Moray…

I'm happy to be his master, to learn that there are more important things than winning in this life, even though I learned it late and from a child... Ahh, he's not a normal child, so it doesn't count.

Hi! I plan to put other POV's as the story goes. So let me know what you guys think about it.
