Inside the dungeon

when we finally arrived at the dungeon I looked around first we were in a forest with gigantic trees and many small animals like squirrels it looked pretty normal if you ignore this huge stone door

'that must be the entrance' I thought to myself while admiring the door of the dungeon it was made of stone but had a lot of runes scrawled on it the door was 3 times taller than me and I'm around 170cm there were also some embellishments with quartz around the edge but not much just the edge

while admiring this door i suddenly heard a voice behind me "what are you doing"

i turned around and saw that it was one of my squad he had dark brown hair and a wrinkled but still angular face he saw me with his brown eyes like he's going to stab me at any moment

I looked up at him with an indifferent face "Well I want to look around…. what was your name?" I didn't care after the raid anyway we won't meet again

"My name is Gradar Helm and you are the prince right." He continued to stare at me, waiting for an answer

But I didn't give it to him, why should I?

I went to the rest of the people because they all looked at me immediately and waited for my instructions

I took a deep breath and said loudly and clearly "Gradar Helm will be the leader of the group" I looked over at everyone and no answer

it was clear that I wouldn't lead anyone, they're all stronger than me anyway, so it was clear to me

but why I gave Gradar the responsibility now he was the only one who had the balls to talk to me like that so why not

Gradar came to me and asked me why I was doing that but I didn't give him an answer and just told him to start I want to go back to sleep as soon as possible

"As you wish but don't regret it later" Gradar said with a smile on his face

I frowned, wondering what that meant, but whatever, as long as we get this done, I'm fine with that

We went straight into the dungeon when we opened the gate I thought we were looking at a cave but what hit me was a… black wall?

I was probably the only one confused as everyone else walked through without thinking

'So this is normal' I just thought to myself as I slowly walked through it too, when I touched the 'wall' I suddenly felt so light as if I was going to take off at any moment

but that didn't last long as i walked through the wall and saw a cave

It looked like you would expect with a cave completely normal however there were torches on the walls that glowed blue and a few spots in the wall had crystals inside

these crystals radiated a small amount of mana they were apparently mana crystals they are used today as a source of energy after mankind found out that these crystals are much more environmentally friendly and more powerful

However, I didn't need these crystals, they certainly make good money on the market, but I don't need any money. There were only 3 that I saw anyway, and they were extremely small

I kept looking around but gardar yelled at me and wanted us to keep going

I didn't have a problem with that, but he still could have let me look around a little further, couldn't he?

anyway we went through the dungeon we didn't meet any monsters since we got in which confused me a bit as this is supposed to be a dungeon

I didn't ask anyone because I didn't want to disturb them

but looking at Gradar I got a kick out of it, apparently I'm not the only one who finds this strange

"Stop everyone" Gradar held up his hand to signal us to stop and without hesitation everyone did as well "Something's not right here... hm I can feel monsters but we haven't encountered any yet...." he looked around again

everyone else also looked around and tried to find an answer together until someone raised his hand "I have a suggestion" he said he went up to Gradar and looked over at everyone

He had reddish short cropped hair and like me wore glasses judging by his face he was probably not very old about 20 he wore light armor not like gradar who is fully loaded with iron armor like a tank no he wore armor like the ones the hunters wear looked as you would expect with colors that would blend in with the environment in our case gray with a little bit of blue

"What is your proposal?" gradar asked him he looked over at gradar "first of all my name is kristan ales i will go as a vanguard and find out where the monsters are hiding" he said calmly

but gradar looked dissatisfied "Oh really you think it's so easy with only one vanguard that's a cave not a forest but do it if you want we'll rest here until then" Gradar said bitterly

to be honest i got what he meant we don't need a vanguard in a cave but who knows maybe he'll be of use to us after all

Apparently Kristan went ahead but a little bitter understandable of course after how gradar just behaved towards him but nevertheless he is right

'to be honest i'm rather confused how they all can feel the Monsters i can't?' yeah i can't feel monsters

I didn't often fight against them back then, either. My opponents were more human, orcs, elves, demons and very rarely Dwarves

Dwarves never liked violence so their tactics are more likely to fight with their gadets or just give up... but only if I could find any they hide very well

everyone else in the group took a rest, although we had a lot of energy because we hadn't done anything

Well I wanted to sleep but I think that wouldn't be a good idea because if something happened I would be very sleepy and would have to fight like that

so I read a little I took a whole stack of books with me in my space ring I also have so much space in this ring that I don't even know how much all princes have such a thing

anyway, i read that book [the hero Theseus] it was a book that seems to have really happened i've read that book before

Theseus is a hero of greek mythology my favorite passage in the book is when he volunteered to defeat the minotaur and save everyone in his homeland... however, there was no happy ending the people he saved by defeating the minotaur welcomed him with happy faces and of course he became king after all….

When he went on another adventure a new ruler Menestheus came in his absence and when he came again they banished him he fled to the island of Skyros and forcefully asked for the throne from Lykomedes but he killed him for his disrespectful behavior

'What a shitty ending he saved everyone from the minotaurs and was a good king but he was banned…' I thought to myself as I finished the book 'I guess there's no such thing as a happy ending'

Those words felt familiar I knew my story didn't have a happy ending either I was driven by revenge though I am weak and brought the lives of my 143 followers to an end... I saw nothing but my revenge for doing my duty as a leader out of sight

'…. anyway Theseus has been dead a very long time more years than i can count' i tried to think of something else before i panic attack again but 'my last name is the same as his name?' this just occurred to me i don't even know why

'Probably just a coincidence' I thought to myself, it's not like he was alive when my family was founded
