Chapter 9: Ruth

Ruth was seated next to her table outside on the balcony. Looking at the city before her, listening to the sound of the streets below. It was a beautiful sight, the buildings were lit, as well as the floating lights along with the street lights below. Ruth noticed someone walk in at the corner of her eye. She turned and saw Kevra.

Kevra walked through the doorway as the moonlight light up her face, her eyes slightly shadowed.

"Ruth, you wanted to see me?"

Ruth frowned as she narrowed her eyes.

"Still referring to my name I see?"

Kevra glared at her.

"Yeah, and?" She answered, her eyes narrowed just as blue shimmer waved across  her irises.

Looking out at the city once more, Ruth let out a slight unimpressed chuckle. She stood up, and walked to her. She was now looking down into Kevra's eyes, as she was slightly taller than her.

"You may have lived on Epra for decades." She raised her chin, eyes narrowed.

"Now you're back here, in my city. And if history has proven anything, you're under my rule while you're here, you'll show me some respect."

Kevra smiled snuggly.

"You think so? You wouldn't even last on Epra."

Ruth smiled smuggly as well.

"You think that justifies your attitude towards me? You forget what power I hold." Her smiled faded, as she clinched her fists beside herself.

"You must know, all this time since you've been back, you've been free because I allowed it. With just a simple message, I can have you imprisoned in Cthulhu."

With that mention, Kevra widened her eyes, urging Ruth to smile, knowing she has Kevra frazzled.

"So trust me when I tell you this, Kevra..." She moved her face closer to Kevra's.

"Epra is nothing compare to that place. I'll love to see how long you last there. I suggest you stop with this attitude or get stay away. Do you understand me?"

"Yeah, I'd like to ask your sister how she's doing in there." Kevra formed a sadistic smile.

Gritting her teeth, Ruth grabs the collar of Kevra's top.

"You have no right to..." She paused, realised what she has just done. She lets go of her, and stepped back.

"Let's get to the reason why I've summoned you here. You and your android friend are going to find me Silas. He has been gone far too long. I want you to bring him back here. I have a lot of questions I want answered from him.

"That scum?" Kevra said, frowning with her mouth slightly open.

"He's probably dead, or worse. Just what are you going to ask me!?"

"That's my business. You only know to find him, and bring him back here."

Kevra scoffed and crossed her arms.

"What if he doesn't want to return? I force him? And would I even start looking?"

"I've seen a search team out, they claim to have found a planet of where he resides. Planet Broklem.

Kevra raised an eyebrow.

"Broklem? That planet is huge, and there's little oxygen there. "

"Then you've been there before?" Ruth said, taking her seat on her chair. I'm sure you'll have no issues going there if you have experience."

"Okolu would be handy there, now that I think about it." Kevra said, her elbow leanging on her crossed arm, hand under chin.

"Oh yes, that android fellow of yours. You may bring him with you if you need him," Ruth said with a slight smile.

"Oh, and maybe try and find the location of this one Gin, she's a wanted criminal, she has a crew of inmates that escaped with her the year Alecia and Aven was arrested."

"You're pushing it, Ruth," Kevra said, voice slightly raised, urging Ruth to glare up at her.

"With Silas there is a lead. The Gin will be almost impossible to find."

"Fine, you have a point," Ruth said, waving her hand before averting her eyes.

"My main concern is with Silas. As long as we somewhat know where he is, I trust you'll have no issue."

"Whatever you say then," Kevra said, averting her eyes.

"I trust you have a ship ready?"

"Yes," Ruth answered.

"There's a ship already packed with all the things you need. You may go when you're ready."

Kevra said nothing back. She walked away from Ruth, on her way to the ship.

Ruth watched her walk, sadness began to begun to show. It troubled her, Kevra use to he a kind person. It seems Epra had changed her a lot since the last time she was here. She felt bad now for threatening her.

Ruth loses control of her emotions too much these days. She let out a sigh, and looked out at the city before her.
